Hunter Part 8
General
Just wanted to pass along that Hunter is doing fine. He's pretty much back to his normal self. Only a few things are really worth noting. First, as per what I was told by the vet, I've basically been keeping Hunter in my room 24/7 except for when I'm taking him out to relieve himself. It's because I have to keep him from running around and getting too jumpy or excited while he heals. Whenever I do take him out, I keep him on a leash, but only go to the porch so he can do his business, again because I'm not supposed to let him run around.
He's slowly gotten back to drinking and eating too. The drinking came first. For several days, he barely touched his food, but he eventually started eating too, thankfully.
Here's where the tmi comes in but it's something I was initially worried about until my vet informed me it was normal. When he relieves himself, he's been urinating fine, but he hasn't had a single bowel movement sing the day of the surgery. A few days ago, I became concerned by that so I called the vet, and that's when I was told that, yeah, that's typical with the surgery he had, but to monitor him for a couple more days and get back to them if nothing changes after that.
That aside, I've been pretty diligent about keeping up with his meds. I give him his when I take mine, which is both first thing in the morning and right before bed. He was fussy about taking them at first, so I started including treats with them, and that seems to be enough to get him to take them. On that subject, just today, I had to order Hunter's meds for the next month, and, OUCH, did it hurt my wallet.
One medication, an antibiotic called Enrofloxacin, cost me $233.71 for the month's supply I needed, which was 60 tablets. Thankfully, this particular med is just the last of his antibiotics, so after he's done with these, I won't have to pay for these again. The other, an anti-inflammatory called Deracoxib, cost me $28.64 for the monthly supply I needed, which was 30 tablets. This one, he has to be on indefinitely, but, at least, it's much less to have to pay each month. So all told, today, I spent $262.35. Yeah, my wallet did nor like that at all.
I hesitate to ask this, but if anyone would be willing to help me out with getting some of that back, I'd really appreciate it. Even if it's only a little bit, it would help. There was no way I WASN'T going to do it, but yeah, that was a lot. If you would be willing, here's my Paypal. Thank you in advance.
