often its that a friends account gets hacked and they send you a link of some kind. (for example to a twitter post)
since its your friend you inhearantly trust it and click on it, this link opens a backdoor into your account allowing the hacker to bypass your 2FA and change your password/ email.

Yea, I wouldn't expect discord to do a dam thing about it. I lost my account in similar manner and they haven't moved a finger - even after a month (and after a month, since the person who got it was left completely uncontested and I didn't fulfilled their ransom demands, they deleted it).

Dang, I know Discord account takeovers have gotten quite sophisticated as of late. Bypassing two-factor authentication even if you had it set up, or sometimes utilizing the QR code sign in feature.
Depending on how the account was taken over, I would change passwords for everything you care about and reinstall Windows(assuming you use Windows). If this was one of those QR code sign in takeovers, then I wouldn't worry about that.

I changed the email linked to the account to an e-mail which the hacker gave me. Yes it was extremely retarded of my part and i completely deserved to get hacked. I didnt even realized It could've been a scam because they were so convincing. Anyway, im a idiot

It's just important to know whether or not Discord gets so easy to break into that they start by-passing trickster tactics altogether and just begin hard-hacking. At that point, should it ever come, I would just suggest everybody stop using it.

I try to log away the way in which everybody gets hacked for that reason.

any idea on how you were hacked?
did you click any server invites for example?
coz usually if you received a server invite it looks sus,
those tend to be a red flag, and if you joined said server
via invite, then that's probably the cause.
