Woah, coming up on a year!

What's up, sexy internet folks? You're looking good today.
As of July 17th, I will have officially been back on the draw horse for a year. In that time, I've managed to post 58 pictures, most of them exclusive to FA. Whaaaaaaat, 58 pictures in a year? From GD? That's crazy! Better call the wacky wagon. (ed. note: Final count was 63!)
But it's true! Something finally clicked in the summer of 2023 and I wanted to really try again. This is a big step for me because I've been struggling to motivate myself to do pretty much anything for the last 7 years, let alone draw. I've made a few attempts at psyching myself up since 2012, but it's been hard. It's insanely frustrating when an activity that normally makes you happy suddenly does the exact opposite. I figure there are at least a few of you out there that know what I mean.
This past fall, I also dumped a toxic job and it really helped wake me up. It's definitely not for everyone, but sometimes it's good to grab life by the balls and give 'em a firm, corrective squeeze. I'm not suggesting you blow up your life or anything, but there's something to be said for taking stock of your situation and deciding what's actually important before you wake up old.
One thing in particular I've been focusing on these past 12 months is making a more interesting mix of furry critters. Different animals, a wider variety of genitalia, new fetishes... well, new to this gallery, anyway (wink, wink). I like catfolk as much as the next guy, but just between you and me, I think reptiles, bugs, and birds are pretty neat, too. Hmm...
By some strange coincidence, Grizelda's intro picture was this last year's most popular, by no small margin! A distant but respectable second was the vagina dentata cultist. You guys have very specific tastes!
All this experimentation has actually given me the inspiration to make something new for the first time in a really long time, too. I am very excited to share my next project with you folks soon. I haven't debuted a thing in a while, and it's pretty different, so I'm a little nervous... But I'm feeling really passionate about it, and I figure I should probably take that as the sign that the wheels are back on the tracks.
My goal over the next year is to put a bit more joy out into the world. Maybe bring back a little of that oekaki vibe that so many of you in Social Media Land seem to miss. You don't need me to tell you that everything sucks right now, but what doesn't suck is doing what's within your power to make someone else's day suck a little less. Maybe that's not concise enough for a bumper sticker, but truth of the matter is that a little kindness goes a long way, especially in times like these.
Believe in that! Or just believe me.

Right? I couldn't believe it. I was even more surprised by the picture count, since my brain kept trying to tell me I hadn't accomplished much this year. That liar.

The good old days! I think those tiny canvases are what really got me thinking about comic panels in the first place. I liked the community aspect a bunch, lots of artists with wildly different styles all posting together, chatting, and getting along.
