How do you maintain your mental health while drawing?
General
When your number of favorites or followers doesn't increase...
When you draw art you don't want to draw for money...
When your art are criticized...
When drawing has become a chore and you can't enjoy it anymore, etc...
How do you protect your pure mind from such negative thoughts?
If there is anything you do on a regular basis, please tell me.
Thank you! :3

I'm really lazy and only draw for fun. Though I've been thinking of making money with it.
But even then I would just draw what I feel like, and have the money be more of a small secondary income to my regular job, nothing I would take too serious.
I'm not sure if it's possible to maintain a healthy mind without solving the underlying problems.
If you're stressed you can only take a break, if you can afford it.
I really wonder if you hit the limit with how much money you can make with your art, and there's simply not enough people that would pay for it anymore. But I don't really know.
If I was in your situation I think I would just try out new things, like new drawing styles or shading styles. That's how I learned my painting approach. Or maybe do comics with proper short stories that have characters with different personalities interact with each other. I learned that adding context to transformations is very appealing for people.
Or you could draw already established popular characters from cartoons and games.
Also with critics, if they aren't helpful, completely ignore them.
If you get the same point of criticism from multiple people, I guess you could look into it, but I don't think that happens often.
With your skills, I think you could easily make money by drawing only art if you want to draw.
You are more talented and curious than I am.
I'm still experimenting it, but that's just because I'm bad at it.
You can do it! X3
And your art is amazing!
The most important thing is to enjoy drawing.
Don't forget that, please.
I'll be sure not to forget too! X3
but i would say stay true to yourself and don't let anyone bring you down. if it isn't fun don't do it. like you said in a comment : "The most important thing is to enjoy drawing.".
we got 1 life so we must focus on the positives to make the best of it :).
my opinion is that your art is wonderful and very playful. i still got the piece you done for me in the past and still brings me joy. thank you for that again :)
Artists accumulate stress due to various factors, so it's very important to check my current psychological state.
I'm fine now! Thank you for enjoying my art! X3
I find that just embracing the challenge of drawing is rewarding in its own right, just as Sisyphus embracing the boulder, brings purpose and meaning to your work.
Don't get discouraged if your favs or followers don't increase, at least appreciate that your loyal followers keep coming back to see your stuff again and again.
Sometimes you will draw weird stuff for cash that isn't for everyone. It happens to every artist around.
Just cherish the fact that someone likes your art so much that they're taking some of their money, (which they undoubtedly earned with their own blood, sweat, and tears ) and give it to you just to see you use your skills as an artist and bring something into existence.
Just treat it professionally, and take some pride in it. Also appreciate that you're making some money that doesn't involve wage slavery like the rest of the world.
Don't be afraid of criticism. The best artists constantly ask themselves "how can i make it better"
There's always going to be haters out there, know to recognize them and ignore them and not let it ruin your day.
Do take note of sincere constructive criticism if it comes from others who care about your work and can spot ways to improve. Don't be afraid to try something new if it can produce something greater.
If drawing becomes a chore, especially if its commission work, then its a small victory to have so much work that it feels like a job. Not every artist can achieve that. Don't be afraid of the challenges that stem from your own greatness.
Lastly, don't be hard on yourself. See beauty in your work and not be overly critical of your own art and show some love to yourself.
Well, i hope i wasn't coming off as preachy,
I may not be as talented as you but i can relate i believe. I hope my words can be of some use to you.
Gosh my Japanese is rusty.
頑張ってください
That's true!
I've been drawing for almost 15 years, and I'm sure it's because I love drawing.
If I didn't draw, I wouldn't be talking to you and so many other people like this.
That in itself is a miracle and something to be grateful for.
I tend to get caught up in "numbers" like money and followers and forget about that.
I want to be grateful for the opportunity to draw and enjoy looking at art, and not take it for granted :3
