I've started to notice in the papers that the right wing seems to be becoming more powerful. Any thoughts as to why?

Unfortunately, the analogy only works if you ever read H.G. Wells' "The Time Machine" or seen either the 1960 or 2002 movie adaptations of it.
Republicans = Morlocks
Democrats = Eloi
I've read the book, but don't remember much else
The Morlock were the descents of the lower classes while the Eloi were the descendents of the upper class.
