(DISCUSSION) What does "TWINK" even mean now?
What is the word twink exactly?
Because I always use that to describe Marbles, fit, athletic, smooth and lightly toned body.

But, I run into people and artists who seem to think Twink is just another term for femboy.
Then we have examples like this, where twink is basically femboy and I, Marbles, fall in the middle.

To me, twink was always "athletic, lean, toned' (and usually hairless when it comes to humans)
While femboy is more effeminate in shape, larger hips, mannerism etc etc.
This is similar to how I always saw Marbles

Marbles modern look was based on a college age athletic/swimmer physique

Would Hwong from Tekken be a twink? He's about Marbles phsyque, but a bit more defined.

What does twink mean?
"The term “twink” refers to a stereotype of thin, hairless, young, gay men who are often white, though not always. Like other gay subcultures, such as bears, otters, and daddys, “twink” is a queer colloquialism that was popularized largely by gay men and has since extended to other parts of the LGBTQ+ community.
Though straight men that fit the physical description of the term have been called twinks in the past — sometimes jokingly, sometimes not — the term really only refers to queer people."
From a Femboy Reddit
https://www.reddit.com/r/femininebo.....boy_and_twink/
"Femboy is the aesthetic of any boy that expresses femininely in dress, mannerisms and/or makeup. Note that femboy doesn't have any implication on sexuality and doesn't exclude Nonbinary folks and FTM trans Femboys. Twink is used to describe an attractive boyish, homosexual man with little to no body hair. Twink doesn't imply dressing or acting feminine. There's lots of overlap between the two as many guys fit both descriptions but you can also be one without the other."
So is the bun a Twink, or is there another term I am looking for/should be using for a bun?
Because I always use that to describe Marbles, fit, athletic, smooth and lightly toned body.

So is the bun a Twink, or is there another term I am looking for/should be using for a bun?
He's good looking, and it's up to his creator to say who he is or isn't, I like him which is what matters most if he's likable.
While I understand language is fluid and evolves, grows with time.. I am still anal about terminology.
(Which annoys people when I point out that Dinosaurs and Dragons would fall under Bull and Cow for their gender identification due to their size and mass. Also you should see how anal I am about game genres.)
Twink would be an athletic, early 20s build. More fit than nomal, but no where near a stud/beefcake
At the sametime the body type persay is usually effeminate, curvy male.
https://thesaurus.altervista.org/dict/en/twink
Small, short bursts of light. Doesn't that just sound like it's perfect for someone, anyone, becoming proud of who they are and letting that light shine?
To call him a Twink is pretty spot on. If he had wider hips, and sleeker legs or even a more "hourglass" shape, that would be more of a Femboy type.
I'd say in full retrospect, Marbles IS a Twink.
-- Stephen
Smooth body, toned but not heavily.
While a femboy is usually more effeminate and smaller
my own mouse fursona qualified as a twink, and he
said no, Chris is normal.
I always felt in his example that twink was femboy.
Normal was twink
And stud was beefcake
Slim, shaved and no muscles: Twink
Slim, shaved, no muscles and tries to act and dresses as girly as possible:Femboy
Similar to normal, but more athletic, smooth and toned.
Not muscled persay.
While femboys usually more effeminate in shape, and smaller but not always. Usually more about mannerisms
Filled with bunn cream
if there's muscle tone involved/less-to-none curvy hips, I consider that "twunk" ("twink+hunk" if the term is unfamiliar)
as for the Real Humans, I think your designation is more apt, because I think the standards for Real Humans are different than for fictional furries.
all that is just my personal interpretation tho, I think your take is entirely valid, and labels are subjective/arbitrary anyway.
But to actually answer the question, I don't know! I feel as though terms like that evolve and shift in meaning, both over time and from person to person. Maybe it's just easier to say the term is a bit subjective?
I run into similar definition issues when it comes to my herm characters. Some people think it's a slur term, some (like myself) use it in it's scientific definition of being both gendered, and others will use intersex or variations on it even though they're probably not wholly correct. It can be really frustrating tiptoeing around such things when I know how I am referring to them...
But yeah, in that pic, Normal is Twink, and Twink is Fem. Twink is the right term.
While twink refers to normal but a bit more athletic. toned, and smooth body shape...
Femboy has more feminine features like hips, ass..
Thank you for seeing why i bring this up!
Not heavily muscled but atheletic.
Ultimately, twink just means an adult male who has youthful traits such as a slim physique, low or no body hair, and no facial hair.
IE: All femboys are twinks but not all twinks are femboys
The most agreed upon etymology for the term dates back to the beginning of the Twinkie. In the original context this term was used: A twinkie is a soft pale blonde male filled with cream.
That got shortened to Twink and expanded to include other hair colors and skin tones.
But there are definitely twinks with little or no tone/athleticism, even in your example images.
Arnold Schwartzenegger is hairless and athletic, but definitely not a twink!
And twink can't mean femboy, or those two words become synonyms and we lose our term for what a twink really is.
Swimmer/jogging physique.
And the black chest tuft looks a bit like chest hair in some of them, which pushes the slider away from twink too.
But he's got all of the typical twink traits being a nice and smooth shape, not too bulky, not too chubby, not to skinny etc.
Hair no longer long if you see my stream *Hugs*
Like I imagine femboys to be dressed in skirts, but the twinks got the skinny jeans and tees. But then I'm so chaotic in gender myself it's hard to really take norms and terms seriously.
Looking at the body frame of your references, Marbles is a twink.
In the 3 Stripes reference their "Normal" is definitively a twink while their "twink" skews more femboy because of the clothing, but not the body frame.
You're not a twunk. Twunk is a twink that's a little more defined in their musculature (think abs)
I always thought it was a slang word for a femboy?
Either that or another word about the Twinkie. Short, soft, squishy, yellow pastry full of cream
