Some of them blend together decently and make 'em look the same but different - Alolan/Galarian/Paldean variants scratch that same itch in a lot of ways, I think. People like unique mutations on things in nature, kinda transfers over to this.

And some of them are just fucking funny because of how distinct the faces are. Derpy faces on weird bodies will always be an easy laugh!

True, I have some that blend nicely, though they mostly just take some design elements and remain closer to one pokemon than the other. I have no issues with regional variants though, I think it's a logical way of handling the absurdly large number of pokemon these days.

Unfortunately, my brain interprets the more derpy and out there designs as "OH DEAR GOD! Put it out of it's misery!" rather than finding it hilarious... In the end it's all subjective right?

Pretty much! Either it's outlandish in a funny way or outlandish in a way that makes you wish you were looking at something else, and either one is valid
