I'm indifferent tbh like I do like getting a response because it makes me feel acknowledged! But I also understand people are busy and may not always have the time

Love getting comments from friends and mutuals, etc.
And if they comment, I usually like responding.
And vice versa.

Otherwise, I usually only leave a comment if an art piece REALLY fires my neurons for some reason.
Replies are always nice, but I never expect them. XD

I like giving them, especially when there's a good joke or pun I can put in.

I never know what to say so comments are hard for me. That's why I like favoriting if the art is here or liking/reposting on sites like twitter, bluesky, etc.

I never expect replies on the rare occasions I do comment, but they usually make me feel good when I get them.

JK I don't really comment much and if I do I never expect a reply. I'll admit it can be nice getting a reply tho, when you know your feedback wasn't in vein, but actually appreciated.

Replies are nice! But not necessary or expected.

I personally find the only times that I post comments is when I feel that me doing so is warranted. I dunno, if I don't really have much to say, I tend to just say nothing rather than something same like "cool". I think it's neat if the artist reads and responds, but I don't expect it. I guess a lot of it comes down to anxiety and whether or not the people reading my comments think I'm lame or whatever lol

Artists are people too. So, from my standpoint at the very least, I understand that if I leave a comment, I'm not going to get a reply if the individual is busy with their own life and work already as it is. That is absolutely fine in my book. My comment does not deserve a reply, nor am I obligated to receive one. It's the artist's / creator's choice to provide one if they have the social battery to do so or not.

I like getting responses nonetheless. It's great to know that they're reading their comments but again, not necessary to reply to. I enjoy leaving comments where and when I can all the same, especially if it goes to show the artist and creator that I am supporting their work and creative efforts of growth and development of their said creativity.

I don't expect the artists to reply, but it is nice if they do.

I leave comments when so motivated. I'm all about encouraging artists or making silly jokes. If I get a reply back, that's great, but I certainly don't expect that to always happen. Some artists are especially good about replying, and I really appreciate that.

I only really "care" about a reply if I'm asking a question. Otherwise, I understand replying to comments is an extra job in itself and don't mind otherwise, though replies are always a positive thing ^_^

I usually taper off leaving comments if a particular artist never replies. Just feels like talking to a wall.

I enjoy just simply leaving comments to let the artist know they're doing a fantastic job. They don't have to reply, I'm guilty of not always replying to comments. But I just hope that when I do leave comments, they make the artist feel good about their work. That's all that matters to me, anyways.

I enjoy leaving replies so that artists don't feel like they are staring out into a void. I reply to each of the comments I receive, but I don't mind that my comments don't receive replies. 😌

As a commenter, I don't expect any reply, but it's always nice to get one.

As an arist, I pretty much always reply, even if it's just a quick 'thanks!'

I don't expect to have a reply all the time but it's nice when they do respond. There's artists that just don't reply at all, even to direct questions!

Not something I hold against anyone but it's nice to have at least some level of interactivity. ^^

I usually leave a comment when I like a lot a character or an art and I'm very glad when I got an answer ! It means that the person care about the others and I think website like FA are done for this !

I don't have to get a reply back, but if I leave a comment, and it makes an artist happy to read it, then that's what matters the most.

So in my time on FA, I've made over 2000 more comments than I've gotten. Seems about the right ratio for every social media type thing I've been a part of where they kept track of such things.

I like to encourage the artists. Sometimes, I'm overwhelmed by the awesomeness and can't come up with something beyond a "cool piece" or "awesome" at the time I want to comment, or maybe I'm not in a great frame of mind for viewing art at the time, another possibility for a short comment. Sometimes, I'll think of something kind of humorous, but what I like doing, when I'm really "in the zone" is trying to comment on the little details in a piece. People comment on the BIG things all the time, but the little nuances and details can take just as much and sometimes more work for an artist to put in. So I like to TRY to spotlight some of those if I can.

It's always nice to hear that an artist reads every comment. I certainly appreciate replies to my comments, when possible. Especially the clever or breakdown comments. But I do understand that artists are human and have to work on art, among other things, and not comment on every one of a billion comments they get. They'd never get anything done then. lol So I don't expect 'em. But it's a nice surprise whenever I see that comment ticker notification thing tick up a number.

My comments on a piece are MAINLY for the artist, however, if with one of my more detailed comments another viewer's attention is drawn to some of the "little details" or nuances I may have seen and pointed out, then that's cool too.

I always enjoy your thoughtful comments! When people notice little details in my work, im usually quite flattered. Often when im working on things, i think "oh man no one will even notice this texture i just spent 2 hours trying to figure out"... so it is very validating. thank you and keep keeping on!

LOL Yep! You are really good about replying! I was thinking about it, and I think of the comments I make, you are artist who replies the MOST to them. And of course, I always respond to "thank you" comments with a "you're welcome" comment. It's the polite thing to do. And I'm always glad to read when a comment I make is appreciated. lol So of COURSE I want to reciprocate that with a "you're welcome" reply! ;D My way of showing gratitude in return too. lol

LOL I wish my eyes were more keen on such things so I could do it more often now. lol But you can count on it, I'll keep noting the little things when I see 'em! Either here or on your patreon! Your textures ARE amazing, and they do deserve to be spotlighted! :D Not that I'm envious or anything, but doing textures like those you can do IS something I'd aspire to one day be able to figure out myself to be able to do someday. I like getting responses but I don't expect to. I know it can be daunting to try and come up with a reply that isn't copy paste to every "Hey, I like your art!" someone comments, especially when you tens of comments on a singular post.

Yeah, I think a reply is a nice bonus but I don't expect it all the time. Similarly, I try to respond to most comments I get. It gets kind of irritating though when people reply "you're welcome" to my comments, it's such a useless notification (once in a while is fine but every single time is seriously overkill)

I'm no visual artist so my work naturally gets overlooked by the general populas anyway. But I do get the occasional fave or a neat little bump in views, which feels good too considering the medium I work with.

as an artist i just try to express what i like exactly in an art so its a positive feedback, nothing else! i dont expect a reply but i really appreciate that.

I love gushing over people's works nd characters, and though it's absolutely not at all expected of the artist to reply back, there's a tiny giddiness I do get when an artist does cx

I used to never comment on or even favorite anything. I had this longstanding paranoia from my upbringing about leaving a trail of your preferences or opinions online. And furry stuff? I'm old enough to remember when the hate was real (i guess it still is, tbh) and I didnt want anybody to know I was in the fandom, not even a single hint.

Also, I always feel like I come off very rigid or robotic, or just sound like an idiot. But I'm trying to move away from that, I like to comment on things now, and usually try to name something specific I liked. If the artist replies, that's great! If not, no biggie.

I like commenting on artist's published works if I know the artist and they are normally okay with receiving comments. Otherwise, I might just leave a favorite.

Commenting in public has become kinda complicated since identity politics and personal drama are tied up into furry art. Showing friendliness to or interest in certain people is now equivalent to supporting something horrible even if the person is not directly connected with or openly rejects whatever is going on.

I absolutely love leaving comments on artists work. I’ll admit that some would call my comments as somewhat robotic but I guarantee you that they all come from my heart.
I honestly do love getting a response back, even if it’s just a thank you. It honestly brightens my day a bit. I don’t expect to get a response back but it’s really nice when I do.
I totally understand that artists are human beings who have other things that they need to do besides responding to each and every comment. It’s wonderful to know that you read all the comments you receive. Just knowing that you read my comment of really loving your art means a lot.

In my particular observation, from a collection different sites and different mediums, I personally like to give a descriptive or interesting responce than your average "nice, cool, I like it" as I like to point out specific details of said piece that drew me into it or give a reflection on the feeling of it or perhaps maybe a symbolic analogy, though I do hope too expect the same in return when someone listens to my works, because it signifies to me that I have gave some sort of connection to someone, it lets me know that an emotional response was established, which is why I do what I do...

I like to receive comments back, but I see it as a bonus. I'm just there to say something nice. I'd prefer a genuine response over one that is made just for the sake of replying, but I'm not too fussed by it, either. Overall, I just hope I say something that is well received.

big agree here! i do the same, and i dont expect a response from creators. the only reason i comment is to let them know how much i love their art! nobody is on-call to respond all the time, even if u compliment their art lol.

It's more about subtle details, that have improved or in need.
A reply from the artist is the greatest compliment I could hope for.
Could care less about public, if you can't say it to their face, don't comment it.

I put in a kind word when I can. TBH I'm not going to remember what I posted, or to who. But when the original artist replies, I take notice.
