Writing? Should I?

Snout give me the SNOUT
Howdy folks, the Work Ethic of
Snoutless over here (if you haven't already give em a watch, they've earned it for listening to all my commission ideas for them to draw).
TLDR: Thinking of taking writing up again. Dunno how FA's stuff quite works seems .txt formats are readable.
Would there be any interest in posting stuff I write down.
Also I burned my hands cuz metal+sun more op than workgloves haha.
Some folks know, lots don't. I'm (as in Work Ethic, word up) am a washed-up writer. I used to write stories (apart from maybe the occasional Snoutless birthday gift and random blurbs from time to time), do edits for people, and some pretty popular fanfics from a couple of fandoms I won't disclose out of respect and anonymity. Fast forward and I became a University drone. Papers papers and more papers. I would add my touch to these and my profs found them interesting. Though after many science ones of sample, data, present your findings, source source source, "Everything is paraphrase" regurgitate to receive full marks- it killed my drive especially if you do 12 to 20 of these in a given year and it's only worth 10% of your final grade?. Damn. Other irl trauma stuff too happened which killed it even more. But what turned into a fun hobby that I was a little too obsessed with and could absolutely use more practice in- despite being top marks in anything involving English that I've written -just became awful and a certified "wtf am I doing bro?" moment for myself. Even now, I had a 24 hour period of going to bed, waking up, and jotting things down throughout today and throughout work. I don't know if I'll just say screw it like I did previous writing or comic dialogue iterations in some time. This one will really hurt if I do this time, a lot. I forget that like Snoutless abilities of being the fastest sketcher in the Wild West (Yee-Haw), I can just lock-in and see 5-7k words done for a project without noticing the time. It's possible, but the start is what kills me.
Writing's always been a hobby to me and I don't think that will ever change and no current plans on monetizing or going for a a degree (though a degree just to buff my hobby would be great, yet that screams entitled rich bastard money to me. I'd rather throw that to Snoutless and get an animation degree for them so they can dual-wield if I could). Rip, ya'll gonna have to suffer my comma splices and tense shifts.
So came to ask if anyone would be interested in that since there's a bit more people now, maybe I'll ask again later since I did the big stupid and my story has all the notes and chapters but no beginning. I see that there's different files that can be uploaded and some generate a preview, others are more readable. I typically use Word 2010 but I'm open to suggestions or just hamfisting it .txt #based.
Would like to just go "Ah yes type type type" as I did for this journal update, but I somehow managed to burn my hands through the metal/sun dream-team-combo WHILE wearing workgloves.
I'm going to be stupid and play Kingdom Hearts (on BBS currently) as I haven't had the experience of the series myself. "My hands are burn? But me want game."
Anyways, have a good one, sorry for the word salad, and let me know your thoughts in the comments.
(Want to say that Snoutless is about a third done with the current set. Should be fun)

(Time estimate is I don't know. Snoutless keeps telling me how much cardio they do every day. Probably trying to find their Snoot).
I think that it's a good practice to separate the type of writing you do for work and university from that of your passion. Technical writing needs to be traceable backwards. It's extremely formalized and constrained on purpose so that it can be shared with scientists and engineers in a similar field in order to solve problems (be it with the paper, with a machine or something else), much like most engineering tools.
When you write, say, a story, script or novel the rules are pretty much what you make of them. Formalities are suggestions, not hard rules set in stone (like with an engineering paper).
When I started writing fiction a few months ago what really helped me was avoiding hard "word count" goals and easing myself into writing as much as I felt like doing. Some days that was 50 words, other days 200, other days 1000 or more and some days 0. The energy you have left after work/activities/chores/meeting with people/ will vary from day to day. It's completely okay to be just as dynamic as your day and devote energy appropriately. This is also a great tip when it comes to avoiding burnout .
As for starting, what helps me is setting "goals" for different sections of the writing. These goals tend to be stuff like "I want to write a mean interaction between two characters" or "I want to write a villain that makes good jokes and flatters the MC". This gives an "actor" a "task' that they have to go and achieve. Allowing your mind to focus on the actor and the task and fill in the blanks of how that is "achieved". You can do this for any part of the timeline. The "actor" can also be an room or a place like "write a funny interaction between two characters in the kitchen using bread" . Doing this helped me out a bunch every time I got stuck, especially at the beginning.
Last but not least, know that the work you do and the words you speak don't have to go toe to toe with Tolkien's books in order to be said. Your work can be pleasant, funny, gracefull or teach and challenge the viewer all on its own. And it can be as short or as long as you'd like. It's also completely fine to keep works private, do things for you and for you first.
Good luck!
(Ps: Apologies for the wall of text, this was a subject I feel strongly about.)
Maybe I can get this story out one day as my passion for doing so has been strong.
I'm no stranger to THE WALL when it comes to writing out ideas to close friends and acquaintances, and I think while I'm a firm believer of "It's a bit texty but it works" your words came across very clearly in that retrospect and you have my thanks for taking the time to write all that out.
I wanted to challenge myself as I get back into the swing of things- while also breaking a few writers' rules -as I figured the freedom and goals I can set would be both cathartic and silly to do. I know once I figure out how to edit this one particular romance story involving a certain cool reshiram the rest will flow nicely thanks to outlines I scribbled on my phone like an obsessed mad scientist. I worked backwards this time from ending to start and the start has been the most challenging as the circumstances I wanted for introductions were cute, however, the lead up and afterwards were particularly cringe and way too fast for the pace I was going for.
I know the public will still think it's cool but I want to be personally happy with how the start turns out since I'm a fairly logic-oriented individual which demands sensible flow. The hardest challenge I can think of for writing is just getting over oneself XD
Pleasure for your inputs once again.
