I would absolutely take my sona's tail. I love my long dragon tail to death and, while yeah, it would be a bit of a pain, it would love having it too much to care.

It would likely look out of place without the wings but my sonas tail feathers would be neat if nothing else but for the constellations being visible within.

in RL? :D ... For me it's a toss up between a kangaroo tail and a lion tail (as with a griffin). As much as I dig bird tails, I think I'd have to be a full fledged bird to benefit from one, mainly because they could be pretty fragile and unwieldy, and without a beak, would be a whole lot of hassle to preen.
Choice #3 would be one like Bugs Bunny :D

Now I absolutely would want a tail, though what kind is a bit more difficult to answer. A part of me wants to say my sonas tail (squirrel) but JUST the tail, no ears etc, it's a little weird. I think I'd go more "human" and pick a monkey tail. I feel like it'd look more natural

Absolutely I would have a big blue fluffy wolf tail. Not only would it be nice to snuggle with, but also as someone who struggles with negative thoughts and thinking I'm never happy, it would be nice to have a visual, undeniable representation of when I am happy. A wagging tail is hard to ignore, and it'd be nice how often I actually am in a good mood.

i supose i could rather have the tail of a hellion, tho it might break my spine due to the spikes and the way the tail connects to the body. the build makes it kinda like a raptor, it would make defence easy via spikes on my back.
