Fanart bonanza!

That was fun! I had one of those moods a couple months back and I decided to make everyone who entered my raffle a winner. I can't guarantee I'll do something like this for contests in the future, but there's a lot going on right now and some of you seemed like you could use some cheering up. What better way than with a lewd gift?
Personally, I love doing naughty fanart. I think this sort of surprise was a little more common intra-fandom 20 years ago, since folks these days seem a tad protective of their OCs. I cut my teeth on oekaki boards, so maybe I'm just hardwired to pornify the things I like... I decided to play it safe this time around and only did folks who submitted characters specifically for this purpose, but what's your take?
Asking permission first is always an option, but it does take away the element of surprise... which, to me, is part of Good Gift Giving 101. I suppose a good gift should also be something wanted, because no-one likes getting something they don't want! On a site with such a strong focus on fetish, should an affinity for porn be assumed?
I'm going to be bold and venture a guess that anyone watching me likes smut, or at least my brand of it. But I do find myself second-guessing unprompted gift ideas lately, for fear of unintentionally offending someone who might be sensitive to that sort of thing. I just came back, so I don't wanna be that guy...
...Yet.

Heck, a lot of the time it's written right into their account profile!
I'm not sure if it's my personal tastes these days or what, but I'm running into way more artists who drip feed their thoughts (on any subject), or don't post anything but their art with no context or description. Not saying this is a bad thing, but I've been immediately scratching these folks off my mental list for interaction, because it's too much of an unknown. I guess I'm pondering if this is creating some sort of feedback loop in the fandom in general.
BTW, sent you a DM on Twitter, per your previous comment.
So does this mean I'm commenting for interaction? ....yeah, clearly. I have no defense, here. ¦3
I certainly post any content hoping that people will get interested in it and think about it. Ask about it. Interact with it.
Heck, I unashamedly think half the fun of having OCs is mushing them together with other people's OCs and going "now, kiss." (or other verbs)
I'm often looking from the outside at other artists being super friendly and regularly drawing their OCs together doing anything and being all "I want that" with grabby hands. I do feel this used to happen even more before, like you said!
I am also generally in favor of the sex antics when it comes to character mashups, especially my own. A guilty pleasure, I guess! Nowadays, it's probably best to stick with OCs made explicitly for this, just to ensure it'll be received in the same spirit that it's given. Otherwise, straight to Horny Jail.
So artists stick to people they know and trust.
Then cliques happen.
But I digress! For what it's worth, I'm also hella in favour of sex antics, or other such fun interactions between characters. If I could get over my executive dysfunction I'd put out so much info and lore about my characters so that people would know exactly how to "approach" them... if they cared to do so. Wishful thinking. But also, because of the execdys, I feel bad putting myself out there cuz I can barely reciprocate in a timely manner, as stated above.
Braining is complicated!
As far as the lore is concerned, I say go for it! It's way better to get your ideas written down or drawn, even if you're the only one looking at them at first. Gotta start it somewhere! Plus, if it stays in your head, it stays a secret. Rin reminds me of this from time to time, and these days it's been getting me more motivated to spit things out when I think them.
While I'm sure some people might have malicious intent of peer pressuring people into reciprocating after a gift, I think the real problem here is that people have become a lot more anxious in general. People are pressuring themselves into performing in response to such gestures for their own self-perception and image. And that probably did a lot to muddle the waters of rampant gift-giving and casual fanarting going both ways.
And "if it stays in your head, it stays a secret" is actually some hella good wisdom! Gotta hold on to that one.
