August 2024 Check-in
~Milachu's Journal~ Heya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
I sent out all but 2 of the dakis since last journal. The only 2 I haven’t sent out yet are supposed to be shipped to another country, and I am looking into how to mail stuff internationally. I should hopefully have that taken care of this coming week, starting tomorrow.
The Fireballs for Two comic has been completed! Stormy and I cooked some very good stuff there. I want to start posting the pages to this comic again soon. I’m not sure when I will, because I have pages to two other comics I plan to start posting soon. There may drop 3 pages in one week soon, coming from 3 different comics.
Work for Down in the Dungeon has been paused for now. In the meantime, I took some standard commission requests from Patreon and Subscribestar supporters. It’s been about a year since I last made regular commissions and it feels fun to do them again. My goal is completing about 2 per week; that’s a very doable rate.
I did another writing session for Pushing my Buttons. I only did one since last journal, and I still strive to do them weekly. I’ll try doing them every Wednesday this coming month; maybe I’ll make Wednesday my regular writing day if that plan works.
— Ideas —
I haven’t made much more of the general-audience art I mentioned last journal, but I have been making personal stuff more in general. I made some spicy art of my characters, as well as some Raichu art. I’ve been drawing a lot of Raichu lately, so they’ve been on my mind~
I started the process of making another animation. It feels a little bit ambitious, but it’s very doable. I might try making it once I’m done with my current batch of commissions and before I get back to work on comics.
— General Updates —
I posted my most recent animation publicly (to Twitter and e621) and it did SUPER well; I’m extremely happy to see how well it was received! It’s the only post of mine to pass 10k Likes on Twitter, it got me over the 40k followers milestone, and it’s now my highest rated art (by score) on e621. I’m working on a little thank-you drawing as a follow-up.
I’m finally all done with moving! I have a new problem - half my stuff is in trash bags laying around the house, but at least the actual moving stuff part is done. I’ve been enjoying myself lately, since I finally have the time to relax and focus on drawing.
Thankfully I haven’t had any issues with my gaming addiction lately. I’ve been happily focusing most of my time on drawing, with gaming as a ‘sometimes’ thing. I’m kinda interested in playing the generations of pokemon games I skipped over. I played Gen 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, & 9. I’m missing 5, 6, & 7. I don’t have a working DS but I have a DS emulator on my phone and the files for playing Pokemon Black, so I might play some Gen 5 next. Gens 6 and 7 are on the 3DS, and I do have a working 2DS that I want to use more, so I might pick up Y version and Ultra Moon to play those.
— Feedback —
If you have any feedback you’d like to give or questions you’d like answered, feel free to ask. Suggestions, technical stuff, how I do certain things, if I’m okay with something, anything.

Also thank you! Glad you like my work! ^^
2. Do you get “bursts” of motivation when you write or draw? Like you just start then you keep going and going until that feeling ends?
3. Do you let kinks make your character or do you make the character then let the kinks come later? Cause I’m an always in a split to where I have a good kink to work with but the characters I think of don’t fit and won’t work if I blend it together and vise versa.
A bit of a smaller set this time, kinda running out of things to ask lol. I also don’t know how to ask or comment about technical stuff or how you do certain things, like what do I ask or say?
2. Yep, I get bursts out of nowhere all the time to draw specific things. I’ve had bursts last for over a week before. I was in a multi-day burst while making the Mila at the Club image series in 2021.
3. I kinda start out with one or two certain kinks for a character, but then they develop over time. Lantha has changed a lot over time - she used to be shy but curious, now she’s more outgoing, silly, and still curious. If you have a kink that doesn’t fit any character, but you want to use it, you could try adding it anyway and see how it feels for a throw-away idea. Or you could try making a new character who has that kink, and some other kinks if you were looking for someone to add them to. Experiment~
If you are a visual artist and want to know how I draw anything in particular, I can try to answer! I usually ask artists specific questions if I like something in their work. I asked Braeburned in his stream one time how he draws such good linework, because I like how he draws lines specifically. And on this point, I also recommend asking other artists whose styles you like how they draw certain things. My visual style is a combination of all the artists I’ve admired over time, and I developed by copying or asking questions.
