So, a few of you may know this, but my boyfriend moved here to Mexico 5 years ago, seeking asylum after his family tortured and tried to kill him for being trans. Since then, we have been stuck in an endless legal battle with the Mexican government trying to get him permanent residency, going from organization to organization that promised to help us - but it has all come to nothing. No progress has been made, despite us having well-documented evidence and police records of the horrors that forced him to flee here.

Now, without warning, the government has told us we have a debt of over $1,200 USD for not having the process of permanent residency completed - yes, the same process we have been fighting with THEM to complete since the beginning.

This has horrified us. Keegan has no remaining home or family back in the United States, and I am not exaggerating when I say that only death waits for them should they be forced to return. So with no other option, we have hesitantly decided to open a Ko-fi and ask for help. We both know that nobody is doing well financially lately, but even a few dollars would bring us closer to him finally being safe.
