Well as you know, first teaser for the Minecraft movie dropped. And of course, its expected at this point, the internet naysayers are a-complainin'; judging from only one single trailer, declaring it to be the worst thing ever, blah blah blah. They did this with 'Transformers One' when its first teaser dropped, and everybody thought it was gonna be stupid just from that. You'd think people would learn by now. "It's the end of cinema", "Nah, cinema's been dead for a while now," "Videogame movies are officially dead."
*Heavy sigh*
And these people wonder why they're called snobs? Well, they've done this with pretty much any and every nerd-related thing on the planet. Why should I expect anything different from these wastes of oxygen?
Where do I stand with this? Welp, never played a Minecraft game in my life. I only know certain things cuz of Youtube vids. Check out the Merryweather Minecraft comic dubs. "It shoulda been animated", is also what I'm hearing. Then go watch the animated Minecraft things that do exist. Why do you constantly act like you're being forced to watch something you don't like?
Will I check this out? Probably. I'm a Jack Black and Jason Momoa fan.
"WELL YOU DIDN'T SEE 'BORDERLANDS', AND THAT HAS JACK BLACK IN THAT!" so screams the nerds. No I haven't, cuz it really didn't interest me. Again, I ain't judging by just ONE teaser. And again, I said 'probably'. Maybe future trailers will warm me up to it.
Will I make a Minecraft Special in the future? Well.... probably.

The animals look pretty creepy, but I guess that's a given considering that they're heavily basing it off how they look in-game. The creepy look works really well for the Nether mobs though
The environments look really pretty, actually! I was expecting the usualy muddy Minecraft textures, but they look really bright and colorful!
All in all, people are being overdramatic. Everything they don't like is "the end of cinema/movies/video games" and everything they like is "PEAK" or "WE ARE SO BACK". But yeah, would be wise to wait for the other trailers to air to see what it's going to be like
There's some neat stuff to how it looks, but it's really just the story that puts me off.
Saying that though, I am not a die hard fan of Minecraft so I am not too fussed what happens to it. Also some people pretending that Telltale's Minecraft Story didn't exist all of a sudden? That might as well been an interactive animated movie XD

Also a Minecraft special would be fun!
I do have more but everyone else pretty much already says it
That said, I'm just over Hollywood making Video/Anime/Cartoon to movie things... live action when they do not need to be.
I'll hold my full judgement for when more meaningful trailers drop, but honestly? They missed an great joke by having Jason and Jack in cubic form. Sort of like RTX on Steve but Jack Black's face in the box area. But... man, they look like they just poked the two actors and asked them, "Oh hey, we need you to read these lines in a green screen and pretend you're doing stuff in Minecraft." No extra work on the actors... which... why not just make some other type of movie at that point?
I know why... Minecraft sells, Jack Black sells, and Jason Momoa sells... so, do as little as you can to make sure those three elements combined.
I'm not a snob, I'm just done with Hollywood's money grubbing tactics spoiling good stories and possibilities.
