They blame inflation, but if you are only raising prices to counter costs, then you cant be making "record profits". Inflation is just an excuse for companies to deflect blame onto the government so people don't get angry at them for their excessive greed...

The airlines are especially bad. Inflation is a cop-out excuse for real, there's economic data now that shows it never was true Inflation, just predator greed in the wake of trying to dismiss a pandemic we were forced to accelerate into "endemic" early. Yick!

If corporate greed really is to blame, why has it only been over the past 3 and half years their greed has sky rocketed? Why havent they been steadily increasing the costs since Reagan? They have been. When I was in my teens (I'm early 40s now) I remember Pepsi being $0.99 for a 2L bottle. It's now $3.89 or higher (I forget the exact current price cause I don't buy Pepsi or Coke brands often).

It's more than corporate greed, but mentioning details makes things winded. It's also war & tarriffs, the consequences of climate change in harvest blights, and the fact that covid killed millions. The prison industrial complex helped keep things cheap in the usa utilizing the 13th ammendment for neo slavery with the prison pipeline well oiled.

Sadly, when a nation isn't prepared for the structure of cheap labor to collapse because a pandemic rips through a population and kills a significant portion of the population and disables the other long term, you also get a labor shortage, if you factor in prison slaves, migrant workers, and undocumented workers. Numerous healthcare workers (not myself as you are reading it) are dead now due to covid, and if you work in the healthcare industry, it's basic bananas that so many systemic issues are corporate greed in medicine. Only the rich and other idiots who can afford luxury apartments that cost literally over $9000/mo are eager to "blame the governent". Nevermind that they have infinite growth logic on a finite earth with the nearest possible life sustaining planet (JWST era) lifespan sucking lightyears away. I don't pretend to have a desire to understand these people, and the 1%.
