I enjoyed BLFC back before the apocalypse (I stopped going to cons since then). It's a fairly party-focused con but there's still plenty of panels, meet-ups, shows and so on to keep you entertained if that's not your jam.
I had a good time when I last went there in like 2018. Decent sales. Haven't gone since because I moved to the Gulf South in 2019 and then the pandemic happened.
It's a decent show. Kind of a relaxicon vibe. Not much in the way of programming unless you are part of an identity group like therians, etc. The place it's held in has a lot going on, plus Reno is pretty cool.
This. Reno itself is a bit “meh”, but is got more than a handful of places to check, including its car museum, two train museums on the outskirts, surrounded by several western towns like Virginia City (a must-visit [Mark Twain et al]), and a jump from Lake Tahoe (the ghost town of Bodie is on the edge of "a bit too away" but doable). Skipped Furry Fiesta this year, but a good chance I will hit this con this year.
Also, a couple of hours away is Hawthorne Nevada, home of the Hawthorne Ordnance Museum, an awesome free museum featuring military ordnance covering many decades.
A lot of people are keen about it, so I am really trying to add it to my “bloody go visit the event” calendar... I have driven people from SoCal to it and back, and none had anything bad to say about it the years I played "Taxi". I have used Reno as a base of operations in the past with Marc Schirmeister (during non-con times) to visit various towns and places around it, which were well worth it (Virginia's train offering alone would entice me to go again).
I'm asking the same thing.
I'm close enough to attend, but finally in a place where I can realistically (at a stretch) ask if it's worth the effort.
Vet of FC and the other FC, I freak'n LOVE Cons! ...but RL is F#@%'n $Ü<%, so it's going to take something AMAZING to pull me out of retirement-lameness to return to the circuit.... and telling YOU an AMAZING story, IN PERSON about something amazing of your's would def be a motivating factor.
Also, cons can be totally awesome, and I haven't attended one since before I died.
That should be remedied.
....sssssoooooo..... like you, I ask....
BLFC: what's it, even?
