If you need help with trying to add a wing character there are the three categories:

1) Natural Wings
Wings on things in real life like avians, and things that can glide.

2) Mythical Wings:
Wings of Dragons, Wyvern, Griffin. etc.

3) Fantasy Wings:
Angel wings, manga/anime wings, vampires etc.

Once you decide on the way of the feel of your wings, their are a bunch of turtorials on this. Personally I suggest working on a hybrid combo that hasn't been taking like

>Armadillo / Bat
>Komodo Dragon / Condor
>Dragon / Fairy
> Angel /Prairie Dog / Praying Mantis

etc. Thought that would help x.x

Kangaroos and cheetahs are my favs, not sure if they would look good with wings though.

Depends on both the art and wing style, really. A kangaroo is going to be really hard to pull off with wings without looking ridiculous, but a cheetah should be considerably easier. I've seen winged big cat anthros (usually in the form of angels) pulled off really well, and cheetahs are big cats and look fairly similar to jaguars and the like. It's something that would look better in a more realistic style with dramatic lighting and proper staging, maybe a dangerous looking character with black wings and everything, but in the end it would still work as toony - just not quite as well.
