I didn't know places did this until searching it up just now, but apparently it's not uncommon to 'trial shift' people, and is usually done to fill gaps in a schedule with no intention to hire T_T
It's bullshit and honestly I dont know if theres any legal recourse to it, but might be worth considering leaving a poor review for the place
