So I'd started to do a comprehensive deal about the cats last week but JUST as I finished up and was about to post one of the cats with me wiped everything and other things happened so I'll just cover that now and cover the rest in another journal.
For the last month or so I've been going to my grandmother's every day to feed some of the strays there, while two of the kittens have disappeared there are still 3 left (two black one a long-haired fluffy black and white girl) along with several adult cats. Well Friday I took care of my usual feeding right before taking Mom and Dad to Mom's doctor's appointment. When we came back we stopped at Granny's again whereupon I found a new adult cat there, a calico and she was in horrible shape. So naturally I wanted to help her (seriously, the poor girl had those death flies around her and an obvious balloon-like thing in her ear) but first called to make sure the vet could fit her in the next day (since it was already almost closing time). Thankfully even though it was their non-working Saturday the vet still was willing to help (although after hour pricing started at $125).
So out I go trying to catch her while she's trying to hide under this huge bush on the property. While I'm trying to do that my grandmother suddenly decides 'well I need to get the vines off the bush' when really she was trying to scare the cat off so I couldn't help it, after I ignored her repeatedly going 'oh she's poisoned don't waste time on the cat.' Thankfully the cat didn't run and was able to catch her (she cooperated as Mom wrapped her in a blanket and held her on the ride to her house) and get her into the pet carrier I have in my car and got her into the vet's Saturday. Well she's a mess.
First off she's so infested in fleas she feels like she's rolled in dirt from all the flea poop so all her other problems are made worse by the anemia as they literally suck the life out of her. Her gums are bad as are her teeth so eating is difficult for her (she only managed a few bites of pate cat food, some gravy from some wet cat food and a treat and no bathroom use in the entire time from rescuing her to taking her to the vet) and she's dehydrated. She's also half the weight she should be (Nyx weighed more at 4.5 pounds the week prior than this poor girl does) and she's an elderly cat at around 10-15 years old. Then there's the tumor in her ear that can't be dealt with until the other problems are dealt with.
So I had to decide to leave her with the vet who promptly went to bathe her and get the fleas off of her, because even in that shape she was still making biscuits and showing she wanted to live. She should get antibiotics, a steroid to help her appetite, fluids, high nutrition food to help with her malnourishment and Sunday I should get a call about how she's doing after a day's care at the vet. I'm hoping it won't be a 'well she passed overnight' call and more of a 'she's looking a little better' and get some idea what hope there is of saving her.
Oh and I named her Diana, so anyone that want to pray for her that's the name I've chosen for her.
