Buy me a coffee, if you would like!(ko-fi)
comprame un cafecito, si queres!(cafecito)
so i just found out a news that twitter will be using everything to train their ai
including artworks from indie artists like me
it sucks
it is currently an option to letting them use your work for training their ai. i have it off for now but apparently from november onwards the option to turn it off will be gone and by default it will be turned on.
it really sucks
FA has been pretty dead for a long while, and the only commissions im getting are trough there
i have uploaded a lot of art on twitter.
i think is safe to say is already scrapped and used.
so im consdiering deleting the art posts i have made.
if i ever reupload them they will be heavily cropped and watermarked
so far i will be only posting here and on patreon:
https://www.patreon.com/c/rhunenstaldrad
(until patreon decides to jump itno the AI trend like everything nowadays.)
this really sucks.
i do hope nothing happens to patreon because if that is gone i just cant think of what i will do with my life
if you are posting your artwork on twitter please consider what this means for you.
here is one of the tweets talking about it

it does only work with indie AI
it does not seem to work with high burget ai like the google one and im pretty sure grok will not be a half assed AI
a couple years ago there was an image (i think it was a randomlgy generated bunch of images) you could overlay on top of your artwork at certain density that looked like that the nightshade does and it stopped working after a while because the AI was fed so many images that it learnt to ignore it
i've read on the nightshade page that it works mostly (if not only) with highly detailed artwork with backgrounds, and it might not work at all with my art style that mostly only displays the characters
either way whatever i have posted in the internet is already scrapped a lot of times. :/
i think the only thing i can do to combat twitter ai is to only upload very small, heavily watermarked and deep fried versions of the full artwork and link to patreon and fa for people to see X3
if anything you can always do what im thinking to do, and only upload turbo watermarked and heavily cropped images to the public internet and leave most of your intact art on patreon or other things like that
everything sucks tho.
I'm not practicing shading for hours on my days off and being proud of what I've made, especially when placed side-by-side with something that has way less refined shading techniques, only to then cover everything up with fucking watermarks before I post it. That's bullshit.
after all i always upload previews to twitter, it wouldnt change much for me tbh
im not telling you that you absoliutely have to watermark your work.
everyone should do what they can and want, i guess as long as we keep trying its all ok
