When playing games that use the single Joy-Con controller, I prefer the right-handed controller. Not really because I'm right-handed myself, since most games I play that use a single Joy-Con seldom, if ever require you to hold the controller vertically (Mario Party being perhaps the one exception). Rather, it's mainly because when using the right Joy-Con, the start button is in the proper place. 35 years of gaming muscle memory cannot adapt to needing to use my left thumb to pause a game. I'll instead try to pause with my right thumb, and hit nothing because there's no button there. Or wind up accidentally taking a snapshot of the screen, instead. Perhaps as I'm dying in the game, because it didn't pause the game like it should've done.

I can see the benefit. I think I mostly use the left one because the place, ent of the thumb stick and buttons feels more natural to me.

OP
That's also a good reason for one's preference.
