I guess colouring it yourself is one option?

You know, you could turn this to your advantage. Post the black and white linework and ask various artist to colour it the way they feel like. Then choose your favourite and award them with something small

I have NEVER heard of an adopt that comes without colors. That’s pretty strange.

I don’t think that most artists would feel okay coloring someone else’s work.

You could always find a color palette online and when commissioning, ask someone to apply that palette to the design?

Right... its like my friend said, I'm getting sold a base instead of an adopt. Apparently colour is unlocked at a higher price.

I do agree with that, which is why I was a bit hesitatnt in asking other artists to just colour on top of her. The same friend had similarly suggested using a palette for future full body commissions to just use as a reference...

I am really sorry--that sounds like a pretty crappy buying experience.

I used Coolors (https://coolors.co/17301c-379392-4f.....-4f86c6-744fc6) to help a friend pick out a color palette for a base they purchased from KiwiPotato not too long ago. It may not be a bad idea to find an artist that is okay with character design and bring the design + colors to them, and have them "assemble" the OC.
