i voted for trump!
ill give you a few minutes to regain consciousness after that
are you up, good, cause there are a few things I've wanted to say here
I am sick and tired of the political division on this site, and I'm sick and tired of people who determine their friendships with people based solely on who they voted for.
i know this site is 90% liberal and im basically the odd one out, but I feel its important to speak my mind, especially since my country gives me that right
if you did support harris this election, I ENCOURAGE you to follow me, like me, and watch me, I wanna see you here because I don't give a flying fuck who you voted for
all I care about is you, and your personality, and your unique perspective, and if your a good decent human being irl
that means so much more than the two party system at the end of the day
and I feel almost certain some people will block me or unwatch me for this, and that's fine, your under no pressure to watch
If you like my stories, watch me, if you like them and support someone I don't, watch me too
hell, even if your bonafide antifa, you can watch
I will never exclude you like so many others might.
because were furries, were supposed to welcome outcasts, not shun them.
and I hope all of you will follow that example

Honestly, while I understand why people are upset (especially with fears about Project 2025, and how much Trump will follow it. As well as installing a team of basically yes-men and strengthening the executive branch and risking Trump--or someone else--having more power than the other branches), I think it's important to not let pure emotions dictate how one acts towards others. A friend of mine taught me exactly that and he's definitely more left-leaning than I am. He emphasized looking into things; looking for nuance and doing proper research whenever possible.
I used to be more knee-jerk with political stuff. I'd get really defensive with my beliefs. Thankfully not to where I'd curse someone out but it was still nasty. I realize that you need to somehow make the other person feel comfortable enough to listen or else they'll mentally disreguard whatever you tell them. AT THE SAME TIME, you have to practice remaining calm and listen to someone's point. NOT just accept whatever they say, obviously, but trying to keep track of their points and then asking questions about the topic. This is assuming the two hypothetical people are willing to listen and arent just stubborn. I'd be less willing to debate someone if they're just too nasty to talk to (especially those on both extremes of the political spectrum). At most, I might try to just ask them questions without exactly "rocking the boat." This is especially important if its like a parent, relative, coworker, etc. OBVIOUSLY alot of this is beyond my understanding but alot of it goes into psychology.
I GET why people are upset. I get that it's a natural reaction to curse things out on others. Especially if they feel justified. It's important to take a step back and observe your emotions and why you feel them; why you might feel more knee-jerky to certain things. At the same time, trying to understand why someone might believe the way they do. We're ultimately human and react to situations differently and we come up with solutions we think are best.
Despite having access to the entire internet, it's been harder to wade through (mis)information, now. Especially if relying on individuals who've likely never practiced proper journalism. There's people like Tim Pool who'll claim they're not on either side or that they're speaking their own thoughts. Then it's revealed they were getting money from a covert Russian operations. That or Razorfist claiming to always having being a Christian when they've said otherwise, in older videos. That and if you ask what his denomination is, he'll quickly shift to another topic or make excuses. I assume its because if he were to state what denomination, it would open a floodgate of other questions he'd have to answer. Sadly, I don't have any examples of anyone specific from other political spectrums due to just me not knowing enough.
Normally, I try not talking about politics to most folks but I feel like I need to say all of this. It's easy to curse out others or break friendships on a whim but it's important to take a step back, ideally in a safe place, and think things through.
