We could've had Bernie...
If I was to pin the overall blame for this on anyone it would be:
1. Obama for orchestrating Biden's defeat of Bernie Sanders in 2020.
2. Mitch McConnell for being the last vote in Trump's second impeachment and voting to let him skate instead of voting to actually remove him. Removing him would have stopped him from being able to run again at all.
3. Harris for taking the tried and failed strategy of "running to the right" on the border and listening to the Biden staffers and stopping hitting Trump/Vance on how authoritarian and "weird" they are. And not listening to the democratic base and distancing herself from Biden on his stance on Israel and what they've been doing in Gaza and Lebanon. She had multiple opportunities to break from Biden on a few topics, and she opted not to each and every time.
4. Biden for being stubborn enough to have to be forced out at the last second. An actual primary might have helped.

That's all I'm going to say. I don't care if you voted for him, keep any hate and gloating off of this journal. Get your kicks somewhere else. There are a LOT of people who are now afraid for their well being. A LOT of those people frequent this site. Keep in mind that it costs nothing to say nothing if you've got nothing nice to say. Outside of that I am open to talk politics, but keep in mind that I am not a Democrat. I am a left leaning independent, and that is the view I will bring to the table.
Buckle up folks. Trump was given his "Get out of Jail free" card, and he will never face any kind of consequences for his crimes. And because of it we're likely in for a rough four years.
I have said it many times over the past four years, and I will be saying it many times in the future. "We could have had Bernie." and I have never uttered these words unironically before, but full-throated on that topic I can say "Thanks Obama."

He would have been of the mind to lay out taxes on the rich, and for gods' sake, we need to stop running with "tax the rich" as a platform.
The rich are far too powerful now, as you can plainly see. They're never going to pay what they should. So, we need to just deal with it, and get our tax dollars elsewhere.
Sanders had the momentum to win in 2020. And taxing the rich is popular among the people. The fact that he would have tried to do this would have been popular. He also supports openly a lot of things that would help the working class. (And is more principled than the Democrats on that) Add on top of that his stance trying to push Biden on Israel and you have a recipe that would have definitely done better than Kamala did. Since people wanted different from Biden, and she refused to separate/differenciate herself from him.
"Taxing the rich is popular among the people"
Yes, it is popular. But it doesn't mean it'll happen. Nor does it mean the rich will ACCEPT it.
Case in point, last night.
it doesn't matter what the people want anymore, foxy. Don't you get it?
America is now an oligarchy. Actually, it's been one since the 1960s, we just kept it under control. But not anymore. The rich are too powerful now. We have let loose monsters and we can't get them back into cages anymore.
"It is always the right time to do the right thing." - Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.
Nothing will change if we don't do anything to try. Would it be hard? Yes. I am not saying it will be easy. But we should always try. It's the right thing to do.
I am not drunk, high, or tripping enough to smother you all with a wall of text. Politics are just BS, any consolidation this is his final term he's legally allowed.
Another FYI just before someone pipes up about me being or sounding political bias, my dislike from Trump goes all the way back to 93 and he in my view has always presented himself as a sshole. If I was 7 when I knew he was a bad actor that say alot about how blind people can be to evil.
Even though it’s not my country, I’m still worried partly because of whatever madness Trump ends up spilling all over the international state, but also because I have family in the States who are now dreading what the next four years are going to be like.
My only positive take on Trump winning now is that once these next four years are over, the Cheeto-in-Chief will be out for good. We just have to survive until then. I’m not saying it will be easy, but it’s a goal we can all aim for.
There is something I’m wondering though. As a narcissist, Trump always has to be the centre of attention, and once his arse is out of the White House, I believe/hope he will lose relevancy, which will drive him mad.
Stay strong, everyone.
I also wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if the Republicans try to repeal the 22nd amendment to give him more terms after this one is up. They have proven that rules mean absolutely nothing to them. Even ones they themselves set in place. (Look up Mitch McConnell and Marick Garland, and then Mitch McConnell and Amy Cony Barret)
just letting you know I read this
