Trying to Bounce Back

Hey folks, I feel like I should be a bit open about why things have been so sluggish here.
Since the U.S. election, I've unfortunately found a couple of family members to be a lot more anti-trans than I had originally thought. And that has resulted in some.... very painful discussions that have ended pretty unresolved. I've been kind of unpacking it throughout the month, and reflecting on previous interactions I've had with those family members, comments that were made about me, or my books, or other people even.
Without getting too into it, I'm just having a bit of a hard time adjusting to the climate we're in. I'm looking for retail work to try and help support my mother better than I can with commissions, and....I'm planning on pausing in-person events like conventions, because things are just.... weird right now. Like as another example, the DinoToons books seem to have been included in Walmart's purge of LGBTQ+ inclusive products from third party sellers earlier this week. That's a bit disheartening.
Perhaps needless to say, it's been uncommonly hard to keep my head down and work recently. I'm still getting stuff out, just much slower than usual. I'm struggling to focus and I'm worried about my future, and the futures of my friends. Hoping that I'm able to just get back into gear as time continues on.
Thanksgiving is tomorrow here in the U.S., and my mom and I are gonna have a quiet dinner just the two of us.
