I use adblockers so don't generally see ads. Occasionally I switch it off temporarily to see what's in rotation here, but not frequently.

It could also be worth taking into consideration, the journal they recently published a on their mascot/news account where they said;
"We also want to let everyone know that there is still a current backlog on community advertising. We are working to get caught up with it but if you are sending in requests it may be a bit of a wait until we can get to them."

So, really, I'm not sure how many people see them. Either through adblocking or adblindness.
However, if you can afford to trial it without worrying about the cost, I don't see why not!

As someone who doesn't use adblock, I do click on a few if they catch my eye but it's rare, ... I think it's hard to stand out here
