New Year, New Plans

General
Well, another year has gone. I covered a lot of my thoughts in my summary of art post a few weeks ago. So instead, I want to look towards 2025.
I had mentioned planning on moving awhile back. At this point I have figured out where I’m going to move. My goal is sometime in the spring to actually make the jump. We have a few more months of hard work at my day job, but it should be a nice slowdown afterwards. I’m hoping this won’t impact getting my art and writing done too much, but we’ll see.
Writing wise, I’ve put a hold to a lot of stuff as I try and get Part 1 of the Tales from Ækerin University rewrite done. I’d like to get back to doing some Thursday Prompts, but time has just not been on my side. I really want to get to writing the stuff I’ve had in my head for after Felix’s TF is done, but there’s certain bits of build up and reveals I want to write first for the audience’s sake.
Art will continue. I’ve a bunch of commissions lined up that I’m quite excited to get started on. First up is going to be a piece that was raffled off for
Luke32's Ratathon last month. I do hope I can find time for some personal projects in between all these paid pieces.
Speaking of paid pieces, you might have noticed I updated my commission prices yesterday. There were a few reasons. When I picked my initial commission prices, they were all just a stab in the dark. People told me they were low, but I had no idea how much would be fair. It took a long time for people to begin commissioning me at all, but starting in late summer, the flood gates opened, and I’ve had a growing queue since then. With how much time and detail I’m putting into each of these pieces, I really didn’t feel like I was getting paid enough for my effort. We’ll see how these new prices go. People tell me they’re still too low, but I feel like I made quite a leap upwards already. I also feel like I’ve gotten good enough at traditional art to be open to working in that medium for people if anyone is interested.
Lastly on the monetary front, I decided to open a Patreon. For now, I’m not going to be doing much with it, just offering the HD versions of all of my artwork for those who want to toss me a few bucks. I really have to downsize the art that I post here on FA compared to the resolutions I work in. I might offer more perks in the future, but I don’t have any immediate plans for Patreon exclusive artwork or anything.
I really don’t like shilling. So, this will probably be the last time you hear about either of these (other than a Patreon link I added to my post signature) until I make a change to policies or prices.
The last thing is about streaming. I’ve decided to move over to Twitch as my primary streaming platform. I’m still going to be streaming on Piczel in the TF Art Jam on Sundays, but my primary art streams will now be on Twitch instead. I’m also doing some game streams, if you want to hang out. I’m going through all of the formative games of my youth. Right now, I’m doing the Jak series and it’s been a lot of fun.
Anyways, I wish you all a Happy New Year.

Price wise: Your a good artist and need to do for you. Comics are your most expensive pieces but due to their hard work are very tricky. To me your current prices are on the edge of what I would pay for just a digital piece without receiving a physical copy with it, but I'm old school minded and living in the past. When you have a day job and lots knocking at your door you can pick and choose and its a good weed out too. Sounds like a lot asking and its a very fair choice.
Best of luck with all of it.
The comics are an interesting item and I might get rid of them entirely from being offered. I've got two queued up and so I want to see how they go before I make that judgement. They're just rather complicated to price as each page can be so variable in the amount of work needed. Plus, I've got to deal with layouts, pacing, and working out the story. Things might be different if people came to me with a complete script and ideas of how every panel and shot should be, but so far it's be rather vague other than, make a comic about X in hopefully Y pages.
And thanks, I'm going to need all the luck I can get with all this work and the impending move.
Price wise, you're well worth the increase. You do good work!
Also, I hope the move goes well, and you can jump back into your projects soon.
I'm hoping the move goes well as well. Next step is finding a place. I'm not in a super rush, but I just want to make sure that I find the right house.
