Ratings are supposed to be used, and if an adult work is tagged as "general" the artist either needs to be told they clicked on the wrong thing, or the admins need to be informed. I don't know if anyone is actively updating the wiki right now. I've seen things there that I know are three months out of date..

I told Dragoneer about the wrongly marked picture I saw and he said it was perfectly fine.

Can you give an example of one of the mis-tagged images? Sometimes it's a little subjective as to what's "mature" and what's "adult". Though if we're talking something that's obviously adult being marked as general, then there's really not an excuse for that, and it's a liability to the site if a child were to ever see that..

The argument was that you can't see their genitals but it's still obvious that they're having sex.

Oddly, I don't see ANY rating information there. That is, there isn't a general, mature, or adult tag on there. I'd say that does ride the fine line between mature and adult, as it's not explicit, but clearly implied. If it were rated as "general" I'd be concerned, but mature/adult designation is kinda blurry sometimes..

I looked at the picture and while it might be suggestive, it is not sexual in any way. You could argue that they are having sex, but it looks more like a loving/sensual embrace.

Just seeing genitals is not sexual either. An artist could draw a picture with a male, showing balls and a sheath. As long as there is no erection nor implication of anything sexual, it can still be rated as General. I have had this discussion many times before. The catch is how you draw it. A fully nude figure does not designate the image as being adult. If the figure has anything dripping or protruding that would imply sexual arousal, then it is mature or adult.

Draw a naked female cat, completely soaked and dripping. Write "Wet Pussy" at the top. Does that mean that it is sexual? No. Draw a raining background and the image explains itself further. If you draw a bedroom behind her and another figure laying in bed, then it can be implied that the image is mature or sexual in nature. It depends on how you look at the picture that determines the rating it should get.

Well I think that the wiki entry has a pretty good rating guideline... then again probably less than half of the population here has even read the TOS and even less the rating guidelines. ^^;

I think there was talk about going through and correcting all the ratings and tags on submissions when the Ferrox is launched but I don't know since I'm not a regular visitor on the forum.
