Need help upgrading from iPad! etc

The other day I managed to drop my iPad while it was charging, and it landed portside down (with the cable inside). Was a bit of a scare and while I can't use the old cable (RIP gift ;-;), it IS just about charging okay still.
Buuuuut the product is reaching end of life for me. Had it 5 years from refurbished, and it still does the basic sketching/lines on Medibang that I need it to, but the processor is reaaaaaaaaally starting to dislike me doing a huge lot of art. The program will grey out when I zoom in, there's been corruption issues with pen strokes, etc. So it's safe to say the iPad is on its last legs regarding art production.
So... can anyone recommend an Apple upgrade from iPad Air 3rd gen for art? Don't need brand new, but I plan to use Procreate and make bigger work so I'd love to have something with more power/processing/storage (have 64GB right now so even 128GB would be a step up). I LOVE being able to take my work with me wherever I go, and as much as I hate the Apple ecosystem, I won't deny how useful this has been. This is purely for art and the occasional mindless free game (so I don't need it 'unlocked' etc). XD
So far I'm looking at either a 5th gen Air or a refurb'd Pro from 2021 or so... I'm aware I'll need a 2nd gen Pencil as well, so any tips are appreciated!
