hi im gornal
It's been a minute since my last long post. Figured that this and dA are the best sites to put out updates on while i still lack a website of my own. SO instead of posting updates on virtual dystopias i'll discuss some stuff in these journals relating to me and the things i wanna do!
just returned from FanExpo Portland! This con used to be a huge comic con known as Wizard World - sadly their budget appears to have shrunk exponentially since their last appearance as WW in 2020. They're now a general popculture con, and don't offer some of the things that I usually look for, but not really a big deal for me.
I dug the vibes a lot! Attended some panels featuring industry artists, who offered a lot of reassurance about managing my life as a freelancer and the future of art as it stands. I feel significantly more grounded after this weekend. being around crowds of people for the first time in a few months gave me back some social chops, so i'm in a steady recovery from some cabin fever caused by an unusually difficult fall season.
in other news, i have to put up with some personal health maintenance this year. the protective layer on six of my upper teeth has eroded (cause not quite known) so I have to 1. get braces to shift my teeth around and make space for crowns 2. get one adult and one hidden tooth surgically removed, and 3. porcelain crowns placed on the effected teeth to maintain a protective layer. steps 1&2 are the only alternative to getting my lower jaw repositioned.
with that said, my progress with this enamel repair project shouldn't hinder too much with my art "career." i'll def be resting easily after the surgery, but my oral surgeon (who i've seen before for the first hidden tooth removal lol) is really efficient at what he does so recovery shouldn't last more than a day or two.
Anywho, let's talk about the art stuff i'm up to rn:
- human sona stuff has pretty much been finalized, from here i'll move on to my other OCs, namely the furry ones you all know! they will be looking different, my style's changed a lot over the last year or so.
- i'm not yet set on the branding, it's tough to find something that sticks! my most recent attempt is really good, but obviously i want to rehash it some more into something more consistent with my current style.
- once i finish branding stuff, i'll be ready to start building the website! i don't have a blueprint per say, it'll be more of a slow fuck around and find out creation. til then you're stuck with my linktree lol
- i have an idea for how i'll organize the print media that i want to sell online and in-person. sorting by fandom/genre categories seems like the best way to go, i.e. anime, games, cartoons, and general pop culture (mainstream?)
that's about it for this update, i'm pretty beat after finishing a local con season! later this year i might be tabling at events again so i'll keep you posted :3
