January 2025 Check-in

~Milachu's Journal~ Heya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my projects & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Projects & Plans —
I’m so caught up with pages for the Down in the Dungeon comic. I’ll be posting more pages to that comic very soon. Not to give too much away, but I’m right up to the point where some spicy stuff is about to happen~
I don’t have very many other things on my plate at this time.
My birthday is coming up in February, which is the same month I started posting as Milachu. My birthday is Feb 22nd. And Feb 4th was when I started on Furaffinity back in 2012.
— Ideas —
I’m thinking about doing a little something special for February. I might do some events or special art. Maybe a big stream, or series of streams - I don’t do streams as often as I used to anymore and I think it would be nice to revisit that. Maybe I’ll make an animation. Maybe I’ll remake some of my old drawings in my new style.
If I do make some art, it would focus on Mila and her birthday. I would like to play around with her anthro form more. It’s easier to show off her curves, and it’s more fun to draw that form with (and without) clothes.
I’ve been working on some super detailed landscape paintings lately - they’re not like my usual art at all. I picked up some art courses on how to paint cool landscapes a couple years ago. I started it, got a lot of useful stuff, but then stopped. It was a lot of new info, so I got overloaded and stopped. But now I’m a lot more confident with making backgrounds, so doing more projects from the art courses is easier. I think it would be nice to be able to make other kinds of art, so that doing just my cartoony Mila stuff doesn’t get as stale over time.
There’s a lot I could be doing as Mila. I could be making more comics (I have a TON of ideas). I could make more high-quality single image pics, or more image series stuff like the one with Lantha on the beach. But I think the thing I want to do most is animate more. Animations get a ton of attention compared to anything else I make. Animation is not as hard as it once was for me, and I feel confident with my animation skills today. My top-tier long-term goal is to be making enough money from monthly subscribers so I don’t have to do commissions. I still WOULD do commissions, but I want to get rid of the pressure to do them. I think making more animations is my best chance at that.
But animation takes time and dedication. How do I get myself started down the road of making animations more? I can’t instantly get started with constantly making animations - it takes time to build up to that point. The best thing I can do is to make it as easy as possible to get into them. The baseline for that is doing basic stuff like keeping myself and my place clean. After that, I think I could make a goal of choosing one day each week to animate for just 2 hours. I might do that on Wednesdays. Once I have a feeling for how long it takes to make them, maybe I can make one or two full animations with sound each month.
— General Updates —
I’m currently taking a short break. I really need it. A lot has been going on in my life that just completely drained me. Stuff with family, with mental health, and with general unfortunate news in my life. I also just finished a huge work load by pushing through to make the most recent batch of Down in the Dungeon pages, so I felt really tired after pushing through feeling down to get my work done.
This rest period has been very helpful. I am trying to return to being social with my friends - I think that helps me feel way better.
— Feedback —
If you have any feedback you’d like to give or questions you’d like answered, feel free to ask. Suggestions, technical stuff, how I do certain things, if I’m okay with something, anything.

2. How do you have art balance in drawing SFW and NSFW? Or like drawing something kinky or even more kinky? I feel like the reason I barely get any drawing done is because I am too busy thinking about what I want to draw, then get more into detail and then it becomes either too complex or to.. I guess kinky for some and then I spent more time thinking than drawing
3. Finally, how do you not let getting noticed, being well known, or following trends go to your head? I guess in terms of art, when a trend happens everyone draws it for there own reasons where it feels like a meme, I don't really join in on it for some reason. In addition to the getting noticed/well known, I mean like how you don't let it change who your are since sometimes things get to your head and change.
I don’t really worry about having a good mix of one or the other. It pleases me to draw something cute and wholesome. It can be as satisfying as drawing something hot and spicy. I just enjoy drawing wherever the currents of my mind take me. I’ve also learned to love the process of drawing the art, like while drawing it, and not just the feeling I get after I see it finished. I have also spent a crazy amount of time on some art pieces before. I’d say if you’re not enjoying it as much after a while, it’s okay to set it down and work on something else, even if you don’t finish that drawing. I have a bunch of random sketches that will prob never get colored because I made them to just be quick things anyway.
It’s kinda impossible to not get changed by being well-known. I tried acting as if I wasn’t for a while, like I wasn’t really that popular and I’m just a casual guy drawing stuff, same as any small or unknown artist. But then I had a situation happen where a guy met me in a discord server and told me he loved me and my art in all caps, and I said thank you but also did so in a way that jokingly pointed out he’s just some random guy and I don’t know him - which I realized kinda made me seem conceited. So it helps to acknowledge the popularity a bit, but I still try to keep things enjoyable and casual for me and others.
