The best thing about most Brexiteers is that they're quite old and likely to die soon :)

They are incredibly spiteful, hurtful people, but what goes around comes around. They're not likely to have many people they call good friends, or have people that love them. They will die sad and alone, and will likely never realise that they are the cause of their problems.

Brexit was a self-mutilation of the highest degree, with a recent YouGov poll saying 80% of people think it was a terrible decision that should never have happened. All these people tut-tutting with benefit of hindsight, when so many used it as a protest vote against the corrupt pig-fucker in chief, and others buying into the lies that polluted that referendum.

As a Brit, as a fellow human being, I am GLAD you are here. We are stronger through having people like you come here, believing that this country is bigger than the sum of its parts; that it is better than the lowest vices expressed by certain tin-pot Nazis with surnames beginning with F and rhyming with "garage"; that we are worth engaging in the international community.

We are better than Brexit. It will take a long time to set right the grievous wound inflicted on the country, but we are better than the rank racism and xenophobia being spouted. Things will change, but progress will be slow. I'm really sorry that you have to put with *gestures at everything*, and I am still rooting for your move to a better place. But please don't give up on all of us? We're not all like your ex's father 😥

I don't know how he voted. I remember him saying he was for it, at the time and still has weird, idiotic views.
He's a solipsist. He thinks everything and everyone is made up by his fucking imagination lol. That's quite the egomania.

And yeah, I remember so many of my friends getting called things, told to go back home, etc. It was the most pathetic own goal based off long dead dreams of sovereignty, of "the glory days".
Luckily, a lot of those same gross fossils are dead now & more die each day.
That's the only way to get rid of that kind of ingrained, inbred hatred, unfortunately.

I know, and I realise that there's a lot of the older generation who are on the side of integration and cooperation, having been old enough to remember WW2.

In my head, the ideal future is something like that of Star Trek, in that the borders of countries are there for historical purposes, but the Earth is truly united and at peace with itself and has moved past the ideas of chasing wealth for one's own gain; that sexism racism and transphobia are consigned to the history books as people have moved on from clinging to old traditions that only instill fear; that all religions are respected, and that the point is to have a true moral compass and not a misguided twisting of what some God wants; that religion and science can coexist because they are not antitheses of each other.

I really believe that a united Europe is going to take time, but it is the right way forward because we are stronger together. And if we as Europeans can all move past the problems of the 20th Century wars, we might be able to drag America through the 21st and into a better time, where these bigots and Nazis are gone.
