Travel or Time
Sadly, my current health does not allow me to travel further than say Collage Station, about forty miles away. Once a month (at best) I have to travel to San Antonio (250 miles) for medical care but that requires that I remain overnight to recover and no, I no longer drive, my wife does. The days of traveling from San Antonio to Red River and back in one day are long past.
There are so many conventions, meet and greet as well as writer signing days that I may no longer attend, the last 'Meet the Author' event I stumbled on (yes, STUMBLED on) was in Colorado four or five years ago. I happened to go to a Barns and Nobel's in (I think) Denver where a young man was hawking his book and background material. Though I bought his book as a show of support (yes, it was fantasy) I have yet to crack the cover, in fact I don't even know where the thing is now (inna box I bet.) It was also the last time I visited Brass (James McAllister.)
Aircraft? Ah... No, not even. Maybe a train but I would have to travel to Austin and there is no secure car-park there, I've been there twice now. A train in Madinsonville? Not gonna happen though Big Boy visited Bryan/College Station last year, Anna had a blast, she LOVES steam trains. Me? Klingon D-7 please, the one Star Drek showed in the whale movie.
Getting old, dear Goddess was Jack Benny and Rochester really that long ago? I'm certain that I was watching Jacks show just last night in glorious black and white on an ancient black metal box held aloft by spindly little metal legs with tiny antenna wearing silver metal flags.
Where does the time go?
