Came downstairs this morning to an unusual sight: a hawk, perched on a pole in our backyard, devouring whatever it had caught for breakfast. My husband had the presence of mind to shoot a brief video of our guest, from the kitchen door, while I provided the mood-spoiling soundtrack of a teaspoon clattering idiotically in the background. So no, the video isn't ready for prime time.
Nom nom nom. Glimpses of the life -- and death! -- in the wild are valuable reminders that we humans are still part of the same nature as everything else.

What do you mean, the soundtrack isn't right? It places the event perfectly at the time of day we saw it. It was a real "National Geographic" moment!
