I'm certainly finding shit hangs less and loads faster now.
In particular when I went to my YT subs page (often), it would have a solid 2-3 second hang before it loaded anything. Yikes lol.

I keep Chrome on my PC purely so I can use two plugins that require Chromium to work transferring important data. That's it. Firefox on literally all my other devices. I would even recommend Edge over Chrome at this point, it's that bad.

Far as I know Libreeolf is just a super stripped down fork of Firefox. If I recall you can't search from the address bar in it? Ended up sticking with Firefox.

Yep. To use Firefox you really only need to do 4 things.

1. Click the cog wheel on the top right of the homepage to turn off recommended articles, and anything else you don't like, like shortcuts from your history.
2. Remove extraneous stuff you don't care about from the top bar by right clicking, like Pocket and the account prompt, and the thing to the left of all the tabs.
3. Install ublock origin
4. Close those stupid "hey we updated the browser" tabs that open when you start Firefox sometimes.

And that's it. If you're ram conscious remember each tab is as fast as I know running it's own copy of your extensions so ram usage can get out of hand pretty fast if you install lots.

I'm not too ram conscious, running 32 GB. I got *counts* 15 tabs with like a third of those being youtube videos :-P Stuff runs fiiiiiine <3.

Edit : One thing I'd love to be able to do is make the Firefox Home page not be blindingly ...mauve.

Sounds like you might have a theme applied. You can also change the homepage to something other than Firefox home! My Firefox home is a kind of slatey light black, always has been.
