Love the idea of him struggling with new hoof hands and boots (i looove solid hoof boots and glooves) as he transforms or recently has been transformed, or maybe trying to come to terms with being a perma rubber pony getting to the ends of a tf or something.
Though honestly happy with any direction you fell it should go.
