I feel… dissatisfied with how much attention my art gets.
Even on FurAffinity, where I’ve been consistently uploading for two years, I haven’t really seen my average post interactions grow by all that much, despite my art skill growing immensely since I started. My most-favorited, most-viewed posts are ALWAYS commissions. Without fail. They get such higher margins that it’s ridiculous. On Bluesky, it’s even worse.
I know people see my stuff, but I just really crave that tiny bit of feedback that those people do, in fact, exist in a tangible and meaningful way. Not for an algorithm—just for my own fucking validation as an artist.

I get that I'm not a great artist and my work has noticeable shortcomings, but it sure does suck to see commission work be the submissions that draw people in more than my own stuff, especially when it comes to character specifics. Like it really does suck when someone is like "wow! What a cool character!" but then doesn't engage with the the work created with your own hands.
It's hard to internalize that posting art on the internet isn't a competition when most viewers don't engage with ones stuff unless its done in a specific way or style. And I think that sucks, because we all deserve to get a comment from time to time that suggest someone does enjoy the art or characters that isn't just a one word comment, if that much.
Of course, now Twitter's gone down the shitter, and nobody really knows where to go due to how complicated of a mess the internet has become in 2025.
tl;dr - it's not just you, it's affecting everyone. It's frustrating for me too. I use to get much more engagement deeper in the past even though my (self-perceived) art quality was much lower.
