π― thoughts on raising price (your response is needed)
for the third year now i have been drawing commissions for the same price.
but with each year, i put more and more effort into my works, such as adding cel shade in "flat color" tier or adding a small background in "no background" tier.
i try to make my works look more complete and have some kind of plot.
during the three years of war, here in Ukraine the prices for everything have increased a lot.
yes, it is still cheaper than in the rest of Europe, but it is becoming more and more difficult for me to support a family, earning $350 a month.
I can take more commissions, but then I will have to hurry to do it before the end of the month, and the quality of work will be much worse.
so i decided to think about raising prices.
for now it's just thoughts and assumptions
here is my current price list

You can regularly see examples of my work in my gallery.
so I would like to know if you would cooperate with me with the same regularity (especially this concerns regular customers)
if I raise prices by $5-10-15 in three categories (excluding refills)
I see how other people who draw (objectively) worse than me, receive much more attention and payment for their work.
and I think that in the end I could also receive more, but now I have quite a few commissions per month,
so I'm afraid that after the price increase this will become even less.
also, i would like to hear your opinion about the ratio between my works and the level of drawing (don't be shy to tell the truth).
do it correspond to each other?

Your price seems normal for the quality. Raising it by that amount is also fine.
You can nudge the supply/demand/price pyramid in other ways, by improving your speed, or diversifying your income with places like Patreon.
Other artists I see will have a relatively high price, but do sales or cheaper YCHs.
Thereβs also - do you want less Comms that pay more or more Comms that pay less? Some people want to do their own thing and sometimes take Comms, some people find Comms useful for bringing in new ideas and faces.
Raising your prices by the suggested amount would be fine.
If you want to still have a lower priced product, sometimes YCHs are good, as are a βgive me $x and I give you some art of what you wanted no you canβt complain about itβ is a fine thing to have.
however, when i lack a certain amount in a given month, i open additional "cheap" slots to attract more clients.
and it plays a cruel joke with my time management, alas.
i also have a patreon with small tiers, but it doesn't seem effective in my case
As for Patreon, itβs a product mix thing. Have raffles, first dibs on YCHs. Selling stuff like bases, stickers can also contribute.
but right now i'm only interested in the topic described in the post.
i'm not very good at coming up with activities for patreon, so i just get a commission and draw it, haha
Yes, raise your prices. If you work full time you need to be able to cover your expenses.
You also shouldn't add extras you aren't being paid for. This is a job and you should be paid for the work you put in even if everybody likes getting freebies.
Just my opinion on it.
I do not understand the last question.
in the last sentence i meant when you look at my work and the prices for it, you think "Oh, this should cost more, why doesn't the author raise the price?" or "$60 for THIS? The author is crazy and doesn't understand their level" or "looks acceptable"
full render: very low
sketch: reasonable
flat color: reasonable
ref sheet: reasonable
I am assuming the cost is for any image and not per character. That is what it reads like.
