Doing some research :3.... and it's gone down hill :(

While doing EXTENSIVE research into things regarding the postal service, and international shipping, i find it rather interesting how the post will do things.
shipping in the US, Easy, done, no hastle :D no fight, no struggle
shipping to, lets say France (Hi Jura :D), I now have to jump through 50000000 extra hoops, just because my package is worth 2$. Then, when it eventually reaches France, it's now whom ever is in France's problem of paying a tarrif on that 2$ letter, witch now cost them idefk how much cause i haven't actually sent to europe (i checked, there is actually a nice little calculator online .w. it's 20% of cost to ship to france, so, .4$ charged to un-named friend who i totally didn't name earlier lol. We can't mail rats, Destiny is too big to fit in the mail.)
but shipping is like 50+ dollars for retail merchandise..... that letter is now 52$.... and 40 cent.... (it's like 3$ for internation post cards and letters tho, but we can't fit rats on postcards)
so, it is generally not worth shipping things to the EU, and it kinda just sucks thinking about that.
I joke that "all of these artist are committing fraud, and tax evasion", but they really are....... and it shows when you, yourself, start looking into stuff like this. it's just rampent, and it makes me upset that people really are just dancing around laws.
this journal got derailed like 5 different times. I'm tired, and exausted from doing searching.
was mostly doing research for a future buisness endevor i was going to undertake, but it seems like it'll be harder than expected, especially with the cost of shipping/customs fees/taxes.
it'd be easy skirting the law, and playing fast and loose, but i don't want to do that. i want to be reputable, and trustworthy.
hope yall have a good night, Maple art is posting soon .w.

Looking into Pirateship; they seem like an acceptable shipping platform, and to offer lower rates than if i just went through USPS.(i just checked; itd be about 20-30$ to ship to france; i was admittedly tired; and whining yesterday :P)
I'll keep PirateShip in mind; altho i am reading concerning reveiws regarding their handling of Costums, and weird insurance stuff. But thank you for sharing; wouldn't have returned on the subject of looking up shipping prices/or have seen the alternative methods for shipping. :3
I think USPS is a safe bet; 30$ for 1 pounds worth of product isnt bad(if someone bought 1 pound of product; the 30$ shipping fee would be nothing.)
Again; thank you for letting me know about PirateShip. The info gained was super helpful!
More or less; i wanted to sell custom stickers/design stickers for people to sell as merch or give out at cons for fun; if it costed to much; id feel bad about it. Now i know that i can still service Europe should someone want something done. :3
Endless thanks to you Friend!
While USP/whomever is still shipping the package, i would still be at the mercy of Pirateship if something happened with the package, or anything came up. (i'm a bit paranoid :P)
Depending on what is being shipped and by who, Pirate ship is a solid choice for printing labels. from what i can see, shipping from USPS is relatively the same whether i ship through Pirate, or USPS directly; so using USPS for the peace of mind makes more sense in my case.
But it is good to know that PirateShip dose exist, I will more than likely end up using them based on what is ordered/what i'm shipping. Again, thank you for letting me know about them :3 And i hope you have a wonderful day!
Edit: Yea, i'll probly end up using PirateShip regardless, just so i have tracking numbers, lower shipping cost for coustomers , and all my information is in 1 place.
