Trump Wants To Reopen Alcatraz; Why This Will Never Happen
5 months ago
Last night on his "Truth" Social, Trump wrote
"I am directing the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security, to reopen a substantially enlarged and rebuilt ALCATRAZ, to house America's most ruthless and violent offenders, the reopening of ALCATRAZ will serve as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE. REBUILD, AND OPEN ALCATRAZ! For too long, America has been plagued by vicious, violent, and repeat Criminal Offenders, the dregs of society, who will never contribute anything other than Misery and Suffering."
Trump's rhetoric suggests he wants to restore Alcatraz to its original dual purpose. The twin goals for building the original prison, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, were "to deal with the most incorrigible inmates in Federal prisons, and to show the law-abiding public that the Federal Government was serious" about stopping rampant crime in the 1920s and 1930s."
He also said that only one man had ever escaped Alcatraz (Not true. There were actually a number of men over the years, but they never made it to land) and that he was later found eaten by sharks, which is just a crock of shit. There are no "Man eating sharks" in the bay. Appropriately brutal, though. Suitable for his typical "Brutality signalling", similar to his use of Guantanamo and El Salvador's CECOT.
On Fox and friends former General Counsel of the Navy Van Hipp said
"For those folks who are complaining it's going to cost too much, it's going to be too difficult to do from a construction standpoint. We've had a builder in this country, the best builder in America for years and years in the commercial sector is a guy by the name of Donald Trump. I think he can give, if they try to slow roll this, and bureaucrats try to do what they like to do, I think the president can give them all the advice they need on how to reopen Alcatraz the right way."
-Mmhmm. "The best builder in America", huh? Yeah, let's have a guy who couldn't build shit without going through multiple bankruptcies build a prison. That'll work out great. As if it would even be him building it... We're talking about anothe guaranteed Trump boondoggle here.
Alcatraz was shuttered "Because the institution was too expensive to continue operating," according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons. It said operating the island prison was nearly three times more expensive than any other federal prison at the time. Rebuiding and upgrading it wouldn't be any more practical this time around, It would cost uncounted tens of millions, just to start with. I thought Trump was trying to save money? It's also only 22 acres. It has no water. It has no sewage system. I'm sure Trump would be all for flushing everything into the bay, but you can't do that anymore.
And don't even get me started on the history of the indigenous people with Alcatraz, and the sunrise ceremonies every Indigenous People's Day (Not Columbus Day, as Trump has recently decreed) and every Thanks Taken. The first people who were imprisoned there were also Hopi who refused to be baptized.
It's also a national landmark and an important California state park and a tourist site that receives around a million and a half people a year. It's also not Federal land. It's California state land.
There's just no way Alcatraz will ever be a prison again.

What does worry me is the sheer nonsense of this is probably being done as some kind of diversion tactic in order to distract us from Chester Cheeto's more feasible and more dangerous plans he might be sneaking in under our noses.
Not "Relocate", self deport. We'll see it anyone goes for that or actually self deports.
Did you see Ms. Puppy Killer's nauseating ad about self deportation?:

All you have to do is to look at who's in his cabinet to see how much Faux he watches.
