Furpile last update + thoughts on my first con
6 months ago
It was short but sweet, as I had to leave due to work issues. Everyone was so nice and friendly, and helped me even though I can't speak a sentence in Polish lol. I have to go back to Krakow tomorrow early, so I won't be able to attend Sunday. Next week is my last, and I gotta prepare everything to go back to Spain, as my abroad work period is over. I'll write in a separate journal everything in regards to my experience in Poland, Polish food, culture and anything that comes to mind.
When it comes to the con, I really liked the ambiance, the people, and the events that were organized. However, my lack of Polish, and going there by myself were huge detriments to feel "included", if it makes sense. (That's a me issue tho, nothing of what I say is negative towards the con, staff or attendees!) I don't want to bother furs in English, because I feel as if that's a misstep in boundary and respect. After all I'm just a temporal resident/mostly tourist. Coming from a heavily touristic place, I don't want to be the entitled idiot who needs everything catered. I always got my translation app ready, but I use it for necessary communication. Small talk I feel shouldn't deserve that treatment, in Poland you should speak Polish.
