Looking back on my life vs modern technology, I can so see how drastic the changes have been. Everything is a computer now requiring special knowledge - and yet - the local fast food chain had an outage when I was there trying to pick up my order. No problem, I gave the girl a five dollar bill, only to find she could not count back the change. I tried to explain it to her, and finally just gave her the amount she owed me.

To me, that was scary.

One of the two people who has access to the server--who originally set up Hirezfox and got me online back in 2004--has not replied to my emails yet. He may have changed something after I asked him to investigate making the site a secure one (https), and now it's a little bit too secure.

But that's just conjecture. The actual Hirezfox site is up and functioning. The comics pages are not accessible to the public.

I won't know anything for certain until after Mako, Jamie, and Neo can finish troubleshooting the problem.

He neglected to make the database server https as well I bet.

I'm not sure he actually did anything.

An even similar to this happened in 2020 in November. The two web gurus were both having IRL problems at the same time (a car accident and a bad Internet connection) and once they got to where they could work on it, it was back up in a couple days (with a few more issues relating to a migration to fix.)

Re-reading the Forum thread from 2020 feels like "Groundhog Day."

I really, REALLY need to create a second Carry On web site as a back-up.

Turns out he didn't update anything, but he did see that the server was rebooted on 5/15, although he doesn't know how or why.

DANG IT!!! As soon as you said "Web Jockey" I threw popcorn at my monitor.
