But nailed it on the head with the brain rot speak, and that stupid censorship like .PDF. Speaking of (actual) PDFs, there’s this ai thing that turns your PDFs into those Minecraft parkour shorts, and I hate that I can understand Every. Single. Word. (Great for cramming and ADHD tho… sadly)

Corporate speak also works but yeah, I hate that sites like Youtube and TikTok kinda just.. ruined normal speak because they both have such draconian rules on shit, resulting in people having to censor themselves just to talk about dark subjects that need to be talked about which makes said subjects sound really silly and stupid due to it. I hate it and wish Youtube was like it used to be before the childification of the site. If we wanted a child-friendly video sharing site, we'd go on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network's sites. Youtube isn't child-friendly and never will be, Google needs to stop forcing it.

Funnily enough, I look at the old cartoons and shows I watched on Cartoon Network, and now? They've also seem to have experienced "childification" which is crazy to say for children's cartoons - but I think it's true. Cartoon Network used to have classics like The Clone Wars, which feels less like something made for kids and instead is made suitable for kids - but something actually made for all ages to enjoy (minus the movie... We don't talk about that dumpster fire). Adventure time, even though I just cannot fucking watch it despite how much I like it, was a prime example of a kid's show. I know it explored tons of themes kids would be dealing with, which feels absent from the slop I see kids watching nowadays.

Nickleodeon even had stuff like The Last Airbender! This show is just - WOW! As a kid and as an adult I can confidently say this show is such a masterpiece of art. That masterpiece of a show was way too good for what it was and I'm all for it.

Frankly, I think this is in small part a consequence of streaming sites (among a cluster fuck of other things). I kinda have that feeling where I miss old cable tv and even old advertisements. The wait between episodes left time to talk, and ad breaks gave us time to go to the washroom, grab snacks, and chat about the events going on. It was a social event and good fun for everyone. I also distinctly remember advertisements being... Y'know... Not porn... But they were also much more enjoyable, and I think a lot of people share the sentiment that old ads that could last a minute or two were much more enjoyable.

Yeah, I agree with all of this, honestly. Everything feels like it's been downgraded a fuckton in the past 10 years alone. It really sucks because I used to enjoy being on the internet and talking to folks, now, it's an anxiety-inducing nightmare because you could be doing NOTHING wrong and someone will label you something horrible or attack you for no reason ontop of stream sites being everywhere, Youtube being 1000x shittier than it used to be, same for all other social media sites and this.. braindead "slang" people come up with to get around censors, making it so much fucking harder to understand what anyone is saying. I feel like an outcast in so many ways and I really do wish things would go back to the way they were.

While I don't think we'll ever see a real return to form like what we used to have, I know the indie animation scene has been recently booming with Glitch Productions, Lackadaisy, Helluva Boss, and Monkey Wrench as examples. It's my wish to see people eventually start to move more towards these projects more and more - heck I would LOVE a site that has a dedicated ad break like the ad breaks of old. Plus we'd see a return of those ad-break screens! Those are a lost art now that I'd love to see a modern audience take a gander at.

Speaking as someone who's in college - you're almost required to learn rot-speak to communicate effectively with others. Makes me miss my machining classes - just had to deal with the excessive swearing. I'd take a near-complete uncensored entertainment culture versus the ultra-censored one we have now, let me be shocked. Really strikes me when I watch older movies that don't shy away from saying that forbidden hard R, it's shocking to me but I've found that it only ends up paying more respect to people who would be affected most by that word... Idk tho, I'm some bird-scented wasian furry trying to 3d model.
