Story Writers/Story commissioners
How do writing commissions work? What's the process like?
Alternatively if you know someone who has commissioned stories / have done story commissions share this with them!
Thanks for your time!!
But perhaps before that, I ask what they Can and Cannot write.
Anyway, I then work out on an idea on what they'd write, like the story, the characters and setting, but I also make sure that it fits with the word count: Like I'd made sure that the story idea fits with, say, 5000 words. Otherwise I'd have to pay extra so it won't feel rushed and condensed.
After everything is settled, I pay for the story.
I hope that helps. Sorry, but I'm feeling sleepy atm
I wonder how often that happens
EDIT: I also refer to them a story made by another writer who did my character justice.
I have tried to take commissions for writing but my platform isn't very big.
When I did try I charged $10 for 1000 words it seems to be a fair price
Some are unfished and unedited but the short stories are complete (Silken thread and VIP Room) both 18+ tho one for gore and the other for nsfw
Tetra is a larger project im working on thats very rough rn and needs a lot of editing
We'll go over story length, and I'll take some time to ask a few questions to get a framework for the story. The more, the better, but I feel like too much can be harmful, since people will want my writing style, much like people comm artists for their art style.
After the idea has been finalized, I like to go stream of conciousness with the rough idea I have in my head. A lot of the time it's free writing. Less about a structure, more about getting to what the client wants in my own way. It's difficult to explain, but the words tend to just pour out of my fingers through the keyboard.
When I'm a few hundred words away, I'll send the draft to the client, ask them if they want anything added/changed, then embellish to meet the word cap.
I don't charge for small edits, but if it ends up being another couple hundred words, I charge a small fee.
thank you for taking the time out to respond ; u ;/
Usually the person asking is a friend who already knows me. I did have an influx of commission requests after a recent upload, but they all were asking me to use someone else's character without permission so I declined them all.
Professional writers usually charge per 1000 words or per hour spent writing if it's a livestream format. For established characters, a style/personality guide is created by conversing with the client, looking at prior works, etc.; most writers will present a 50% complete rough draft, similar to how artists will drop a sketch and ask "Like this?" for the client's approval. Length, content, and intent are discussed; there's quite a difference between a one-off smut scene and something that might become a full-length story.
Some popufur writers are less scrupulous and simply offer "plug in" slots, similar to artist YCHs; the client is left at the mercy of whatever scene(s) the writer already had planned.
