You aren't alone! I saw your comment on the latest news post journal form FA. While I don't typically search a gender tag or browsed with genders (probably because dragons of all genders are equally beautiful), I didn't expect it to get a lot of backlash...

Especially when all of the gender drop down tags were already added to the keywords! You could still search them that way... but maybe not everyone is as fond of a tagging system?

I neveer browsed using gender tag.I mostly only used it to signalize my submissions. but a lot of people seems upset at them being removed, and the more I think about it, the more I think that the mods could have chosen another way to go rather than removing the gender tag completelly.

yeah i never search by gender unless im looking for a specific pic that would be easier to find if i type it in. but even then the gender drop down as well s the species dropdown is worse than just using tags. If you tag your posts properly like you're supposed to, its actually better. Because if theres 2 characters in the picture and they both arent the same gender or species, the dropdowns now aren't effective since you can only do one or the other. Whereas if you just tag both characters genders and species you can actually search properly. I really do not understand people getting mad about it, the lists were limiting and it falls apart the instant you have 2+ characters that arent the same gender and species. hell the species dropdown can't have every species in existence. like grizzly bear is on there, but not polar bear iirc

It never occurred to me to search with a gender tag. Usually, I look up acts, not demographics, and acts are often gendered anyway. To the extent that many are not, I'm into both major genders and many expressions of trans'ness, so there's rarely a conflict.

No, not usually. Nothing I search for is usually exclusive to one gender, but I agree with the guy above me. I search more by act, and have never really payed attention to the gender feature on FA. Removing it does seem a bit overkill though.

yeah but ultimately people did have a preference for either a male of female body type so they searched by the gender function to find something specific, though these days gender doesn't mean much for body type, the only real problem is that old pictures suddenly didn't have a gender tag so it made them harder to search

I always have. It saves a lot of time if browsing NSFW. So I think that's going to be the end of using this site for anything nsfw other than from watched users.

People don't tag well at all, so the change just removes a simple way to cut out tons of bad results (albeit plenty of good ones too).

Definitely not alone. I saw the update post first thing this morning and had absolutely no idea what they were talking about about. lol

Once in a while, if need to find specific art. Though here on FA it quite unuseful feature, since no one really bother to mark gender)
