Going to Anthrocon '25 along with Previous Memories

What's New? Hey all, per the journal header, I’ll be attending Anthrocon in Pittsburgh again this year. Flying in a day earlier than usual—this time on Wednesday instead of the usual Thursday.
The new Anthrocon hotel system screwed me over, so I had to book a room off-site. No biggie, I ended up at the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Pittsburgh, which looks pretty damn nice. For reference, I stayed at the Marriott City Center in 2018, the Omni in 2019, then skipped '20 and '21 for obvious COVID reasons. In 2022 I was at the DoubleTree, where two disasters happened: first, a temporary crown popped off while I was eating breakfast and I thought I lost a tooth; then, as I was leaving Sunday, the elevators were slammed so I took the stairs… and proceeded to eat shit down a steep step, tumbling to the ground floor with all my luggage. Good times.
2023 and 2024 I stayed at the Wyndham Grand. In '23, storms forced me to reroute my flight through Atlanta instead of Minneapolis. In '24, some lunatic brought a sword and tried to stab someone on the fifth floor. Wild.
This year, I get in late July 2 and head back Sunday night on July 6.
To make it worse, I requested the Monday after off to recover… and then got slapped with a jury duty summons for that exact day. I pushed it back to August... fuck that noise.
