She probably held on to be there for YOU, animals are weird in that way.

There's stories of dogs staying alive well past their expected lifespan to be their for their elderly owners.

Yes, I hope she didn't suffer too much, she never complained, she was very wise and discreet, but always there when there was scratching hands or food, the more time passed the more she seemed just, lost and no longer felt anything.. when she left last night, she meowed when her heart started to stop, it had been a long time since I had heard her beautiful voice.. I was convinced that it was because of the pain of the cardiac arrest.. But in the end, she no longer seemed aware of what was happening.. Her eyes were already empty in the sense that she no longer even followed us with her eyes.. The thing that touched me the most was that when she left, she grabbed my arm with her claws and meowed once, as if to say "I'm in pain but please stay with me".. it seemed so to me long while I'm sure it must have taken 5 minutes in total... Anyway I stayed with her for over an hour after it ended...

Rest in peace sweetheart. Be happy that you gave her a good life.
