I forgot to add that if you have HDD warranties, check to see if repairing your HDD will void those warranties.

As long as the discs are fine the data is still there, but you'd probably want to send them off to get them looked at over trying to fix them yourself if you aren't familiar with PCB repair. I broke the sata connector clean off the PCB of an HDD of mine once upon a time and tried replacing the PCB with one from an identical drive I had lying around but that didn't really work so I ended up just having to replace the connector on the original PCB to get the data off of it. Probably a bit different of an issue than the one that you're having, but it is something that can be fixed.
