We are shaking things up with a night time banner update 🌙✨

We love the warm summer nights here and watching the fireflies in the distance. With the hottest part of summer behind us (hopefully) we welcome the cooler breezes and sense that pumpkin spice season is just around the corner🎃we can almost smell it!
We also wanted to inform you all that we will be attending and selling merch at Furrydelphia August 22nd-24th. We hope to see some of you there! You can find more information about Furrydelphia here: https://furrydelphia.org/

What are community banners?
Well, that’s where artists submit banner ideas through the year and if chosen they will be featured as the site's default banner for a minimum of a week - sometimes longer if it fits a season or holiday. There is no set amount to how many that we will choose! We may pick 3, or 12, or even 42! Please use the tag FABanner2025 in your tags for us to easily locate submissions! We ask that at least one of the mascots are featured or both of us! All banners must meet General Rating guidelines to be considered. Banner sizes are fixed at 1850x300.

Side note: Turkey Day is basically a practice run for Xmas, so gets sucked into that season.
I'm sorry, but XMas violated the treaty lines for Thanksgiving, Halloween, Labor Day... even the 4th of July.

It's kind of fitting this popped up now, considering that it seems like the firefly population is recovering from more ecologically conscious insecticides, there's a new wave of wonder and majesty at nighttimes filled with them.

Can we not talk about Autumn until after Labor Day here in the States, please? It's only Smaugust 2... I want to enjoy the warmth!

The Ad team is letting all the current NSFW ads that are on the extreme side run down their campaigns and then tighter guidelines for ads of a NSFW nature will be enforced.
But users will not be given the ability to set the level of ads they can view outside of the parameters given.
The artist posted the art of this banner AFTER it wad selected for the new banner.
So how was it entered in the first place? I thought a banner had to be posted with the FAbanner25 tag to enter.
Something doesn't make sense.
And posted a journal that says "I was so excited when sciggles told me the banners were coming back, and she wanted me to make one for the summer!"
I thought the Banner was a community thing, as in the community submitted banners for a chance to get featured. So, the FA Team asks you to make one?
I was thinking about making a banner to enter, but if it doesn't matter, what is the point of submitting them?
"This doesn't at all take away from being a community event. Corrie is, in fact, part of the community and I had zero interaction or knowledge of them before communit banners came up."
So, she had zero knowledge or interaction with you, and yet she personally suggested/asked you to make a banner. I'm getting conflicting information here. Does she know you or not?
If this was just a one-off case of you asking a specific artist, then you should be transparent that sometimes you will ask people to make banners and sometimes you will chose from the pool of tagged submissions so that people understand how it actually works. If you actually ask artists to make them every time and are just pretending that you'll pick from submissions to encourage people to draw art of the mascots or... I don't know why you'd do that?... then that's pretty fuckin' shady and Corrie letting slip that you're doing it that way is revealing a pretty nasty lie on your part.
I love the idea of artists of different skill levels making the cut, but if the Staff are just asking the artists they want, then what is the point. I kinda feel used.
I've been making plans to make a banner myself, but if the "winners" are not chosen from the submission pool, then it feels pointless. The FA contests have always been a bit of a popularity contest, but if this is true, it is a new low.
Acting as if I've "used" or "tricked" you and others is wild. We are what...5 banners into this? We have plenty of time to still choose many banners. This nonsense is part of the reason community banners were stopped before.
Try and just be happy and supportive to fellow artists instead of looking for conspiracies that aren't there. Our staff has been tracking the submitted banners regularly and have many we are eager to see take the stage.
When we all go into this event thinking that it is a community event, and we all have a fair chance, only to find out that you are personally asking artists to make banners without telling the community, it raises some doubts.
I'm not saying to stop the event, just be transparent with your actions.
Trust goes a lot further to boost community morale than any community event will.
Either way, I don't think I will even bother making one. I doubt I'd get a fair shot of getting featured at this point anyway. :/
If they don't mention these things upfront, confusion happens. When concerns arise, and they still don't explain things, it only makes things worse.
The artist explained everything in a couple of comments, while the Staff only sat back and complained why people were upset. All of these could have been cleared up within moments if they had just explained things.
I'm not saying the Staff have to explain every tiny detail that goes into the site, but if an issue arises, being transparent about their reasons prevents drama like this from festering.
Just let people enjoy things, jfc
