It do be like that, don't it. You get an idea in your head that you just have to get down on paper RIGHT THIS SECOND or you'll forget it. And of course, once you get that idea down another idea pops up, and before you know it you've already written half a chapter plus the outlines to a dozen more.

Outlines that, of course, won't work by the time you get to them because what you've written up to that point no longer fits. So you have to decide if you want to scrap those ideas completely, re-write what you've already written, write MORE to fill in the spaces, save the outlines that don't fit for farther into the story or have them be a part of an AU and come up with different outlines. Just to put your current story on the back burner because now you're interested in the AU and have ideas about that. :/

:O Wow I'm envious of all the energy you have for writing. I'm not planning to write a fanfic but I need to write a script for something and I never can find the time to get down even a few hundred words let alone thousands!

It comes and goes unfortunately, but it is fun while the inspiration is there. Slow and steady is probably a better method of staying on track though. That's really cool though, I hope your script turns out well!
